Style on Trial: Bow side skinny jeans from Topshop

bow side skinny jeans Style on Trial: Bow side skinny jeans from TopshopOn the one hand, we’re pleased to see that the holes that’ve been popping up in clothes recently have started to take some kind of shape – and a nice one, at that. Come on, you all know how much we like bows!

On the other hand, though: way to make our calves look bigger than they are, Topshop! And to give them an odd, “ridged” look when viewed from the front!

So we’re undecided about these. We’re guessing the addition of socks in a contrasting colour underneath could make these quite interesting, but then again, they’d have to be knee-high and very thin to fit under those skinny legs, and tights-under-jeans are one of those things we just don’t like, so we’re thinking cold legs, with blue-coloured bows on them would probably be the order of the day here.

What do you think, though? If you like them, they’re £50 from Topshop.

  1. I kind of like them, and I really like the idea of putting cute socks under them. However, the picture from the front keeps reminding me of a dinosaur or a chicken for some reason.

  2. I’m not a particular fan of these. The denim-leggings-with-bows ensemble always reminds me of a the leggings I would see on huge women in the 1990s. They women who wore these types of leggings usually paired them with “bigshirts” (oversized, usually floral or plaid, button down shirts with a truly tent-like appearance) or huge T-shirts with cartoon characters on them (I’m thinking of Warner Bros. cartoon characters, like Tweety Bird or the Tazmanian Devil).

  3. they reminded me of some 90s jeans too…but at least these weren’t bows-n-holes the whole way up the leg like those were…and these are a nice dark wash unlike the light and/or acid wash demin on the 90s ones
not my style but to each her own

  4. I actually kind of love these. I think they are funny and quirky without being too off the wall. I particularly love the idea of wearing them with a bold, solid colored pair of socks.

  5. I like the idea but I think these would be a difficult item to wear. They could look cute, or they could look trashy! Personally I don’t love these but maybe they would work in some other form, like leggings maybe?

  6. Imagine the tan lines if warn in the summer in addition to the cold legs in winter! I would never wear these… they remind me of little kids’ jeans from the early 90s
