Visible shoulder pads: WHY?
This Duke & Duchess dress was actually a citizen’s arrest by Fashion Police reader, Alice. It’s been taken into custody, not simply for being a white lace dress, and therefore the sort of thing Britney Spears would (and has) worn to one of her weddings, but because of this:

Bad enough for the shoulder pads to exist in the first place. But for them to be so highly visible? And so very PINK? They almost distracted us from the super-ugly black zip, which really has no place on this see-through lace dress, but only almost: we see the black zip and the pink shoulder pads, and we consider them sufficient reason to cast this dress into the depths of Fashion Police jail. I don’t think that a white lace dress should be taken into custody just for being a white lace dress. I have one that’s a little looser about the lower sleeves and has a bit of flare at the hem and it’s a darling thing to wear over a slip. I’ve gotten countless compliments. This one, I agree, is horrid; but you shouldn’t write off all white lace dresses simply for being white lace dresses.
I think you’re taking a throwaway comment a little too seriously/personally, Anette. I’m sure your dress is lovely on you: this site is just intended to be a bit of fun, so please don’t be offended – it’s just an opinion! Also, it does say that it WASN’T “taken into custody” just for being a white lace dress – but again, this isn’t a real police force and it’s not meant to be taken as gospel!
Lace itself isn’t always a problem. It’s when people wear nothing BUT lace when things get ugly. And pink shoulderpads and a black zipper? I don’t care how gorgeous the lace is: sweet batman, NO!
The should have gone the whole hog and made the stitching green or something.
You have to watch the “catwalk’ view on the site. The poor girl looks completely disgusted and is trying to pull down the back as she walks away.
Ugh, it takes a lot to make lace look so incredibly sloppy!
Oh man, if the zip was white and the pads weren’t there, I would so dye that with indigo and wear it underneath a sleeveless shirt of some kind and put another top over it and wear it with breeches and stockings and yes this would be fabulous.
That is such a pretty pattern of lace.
