Vivienne Westwood’s Lady Dragon shoes available in four new colours

vivienne-westwood-lady-drag

Despite being made from plastic, Vivienne Westwood’s ‘Lady Dragon’ shoes for Melissa were one of the big hits of 2009 selling out repeatedly. They’re now available in these four new colourways, none of which have found much favour with Shoeperwoman readers, who weren’t impressed at all. What do you think, though, fashion jury? Are you fans of these new colours, or would you rather see them consigned to the fashion jail?

These are all available from Epaulet, where they’re $149 per pair.

I can’t get over a fact that they are plastic. But they do have certain charm about them.

I thought the gold with red and the white with blue were cute until i noticed they were plastic…

  5. naomi says:

not down with the plastic…i lived jelly shoes in the 80s and they were definitely not 149 bucks then…gonna go out on a limb and suggest the love people have for these is actually love for vivienne westwood not the actual shoe…i mean if these were by payless for example methinx they’d sit on the shelves and gather dust as well as the scorn of passing shoppers

  6. Umm says:

Pretty ugly for the price tag. I could find way cuter shoes for less, and I don’t even wear leather (if I can avoid it). (It’s quite hard finding cute non-leather shoes)

  7. Annija says:

i think the golden ones are adorable. not a big fan of the other colours though

  8. Andrea says:

I think black and white would be nicer

  9. Randi says:

I wouldn’t wear them but they’re sort of…adorable? If I was seven years old again I would definitely want to get them for my Barbie.

  10. Yo says:

hmm no. they might look good on a barbie though, since they’re also made of plastic.

I can’t help but think that the price is a bit steep for plastic, and that the color choices are a bit off.
Why not black and white? Black and red? The color combinations scream “little girl playing dress up” instead of high fashion to me.

  13. JC says:

They look like the shoes I used to put on my Barbie..

  14. cmap says:

indie pop princess cute! i live in the “indie” part of my town and these would fly off of the shelves in one of the cutsie boutiques in … should I say it? A HEART BEAT. LOLOLOLZ i just can’t contain the cheeeeeeziness sometimes :-p

  15. Frankie says:

umm…i’ve always not liked these…they are ugly, but kind of interesting…cute?

I don’t know, they look SO uncomfortable and look cheap. $2 cheap. they are PLASTIC!!! so…bin em.

  16. Holly says:

hmmmmm, sorta cute but the colours clash a bit, i agree that they need black and white, my fave is the black and purples ones, but the plastic may be a bit uncomfortable.

  17. Haley says:

For photographs, they’re just lovely. I can see an adorable rockabilly girl in those. But actually wearing them, I’m not sure. They are cute, but they’re a little hard to pull off. And, they do look a bit uncomfortable.

  18. Romanticide says:

Not the better of contrasts in my opinion…

I love the colours, (especially the red and purple!) but I too am just not a fan of the plastic. If they were $10 at Walmart or someplace, I might buy them for fun, but I can’t see spending even half of $150 on plastic shoes. I wish that they’d do a patent leather version.

  20. Lauren says:

:) Reminds me of my 3-year-old neighbor who goes around in
sparkly princess heels and a long pink dress. lol.

  21. Sharlie says:

    Love the white and blue.

  22. Becky says:

I agree that the colors clash a bit. they are original, but 149 dollars for plastic? I think the reason that they might be so expensive is because Vivienne Westwood is a well-known designer so theat raises the price a bit. Over all, these shoes would be a waste of money because I have no clue what I would wear plastic shoes with!

  23. inga says:

    I rather like them :)
I know many other people who’d be crazy about them!
I’m not above plastic, but I AM wondering why they cost so much–you could melt down a baby toy and make your own for way cheaper!
