Donna Karan’s Infinity Dress: one dress, lots of different looks

OK, we have to be honest: when we first read about Donna Karan’s Infinity Dress, our immediate thought was, “Hey, haven’t American Apparel been doing this for years?”
Well, yes they have, and so have many other retailers, we’re sure, so this isn’t a new idea, although it is an interesting one, particularly if you’re packing for a trip and have limited space in the ol’ suitcase. What’s different about Donna Karan’s version? Well, a shed-load of dollars for a start – you may be getting a range of different styles in one dress, but you’ll be paying $895 for them, which doesn’t exactly make this a budget buy.
For that price, you’re essentially getting a black jersey dress with straps which allow you to wear it in various different ways. The possibilities aren’t quite “infinite”, but you can see some of them above. So, what do you think? Worth $895 to you? If so, it’s available from Nordstrom and various other department stores.

Annet, I just wanted to write that.
Anyway, It was my first sewing project. And for a price of couple of yards of fabric, you can have a lifesaver for next summer…..
895 for THAT? That’s ridiculous! If I”m shelling out that much, I want bespoke tailoring, not ‘I have some t-shirts and a serger’!
I believe American Apparel has something like this for 30 bucks.

Not worth that much…
if you like the idea, but the cashflow is a bit short, try the butter by Nadia dress, for a more reasonable $250.

I love mine.
you should really check out the new icelandic label Emami. they started out with one amazing dress and now they’re coming out with a whole line of multifunctional pieces.
their website is http://www.emamifashion.com/ and here are two (yes two, one wasn’t long enough!) videos that show you how you can wear the dress that got them noticed.

xx
ps. i am in now way connected to this label, i just think it’s a great idea!
i love the idea of this dress but not the price tag
annet’s link definitely cheered me up and makes me want to give sewing yet another attempt…the track record of make 1 thing and forgedaboudit would at least result in a multipurpose item lol
Do try. Cutting and hemming will be a bit boring, but it will be worth it when you start playing around with the dress
Pity they are charging you for each combination.

brb lolling forever!
If can afford to spend $895 on a dress, you’re not going to be a person who wears the same dress an infinite number of times, even if it looks different every time.
Also, it’s freaking jersey!
Na-ah.
