The Tube Flop: a flip-flops-stuck-to-legwarmers crime

flip flops and legwarmers The Tube Flop: a flip flops stuck to legwarmers crime

Brrrr! Starting to get a bit chilly now, isn’t it? And as those Autumn nights draw in, we know you’ll all be looking for ways to continue wearing plastic flip-flops without freezing, right? Well, shoe brand Sanuk has the answer: it’s called the Tube Flop, and as you can see, it’s the unholy alliance of flip-flops and tube socks. (Or “legwarmers” as we would call them.)

Flip-flops and tube socks, flip-flops and tube socks. Nope, no matter how many times we say it, it never sounds any better. Or looks any better, actually, because seriously: if you really MUST attach socks to sandals, is there any reason the socks must be so damn ugly? The ones in the middle, for instance, remind us of a pair of curtains from the 70s. That someone threw up on.

And we’d also like to take issue with this rash statement from Zappos:

Wearing socks and sandals used to be an absolute fashion faux pas; now, it’s a chic statement!”

No, Zappos. No, it’s really not. Just trust us on that one.

I notice they couldn’t persuade a real person to model them…

I have noticed these conjoined abominations spring up even here,in Israel, where for some reasons good trends come 2 yeard late, but this along with the cut-out boots, are being sold (and bought?!?!) everywhere. The boots I’m reffering to are those half-boot-sandal-sock things that look like leather uggs with the toes being exposed. Yes.
these are quite a statement here.
oh I hope I will soon be on my way to Italy, away from all this madness!

Seriously? I’m also from Israel and I haven’t seen these anywhere..only normal flip flops (and crocs..but that’s a whole other story lol)..I don’t agree with you on the point you made about trends. Whenever there are new trends, you see them on the street, girls here are very fashionable for the most part..

RLY?? well, i guess in Tel-Aviv you could say that, but here in Haifa I can see a LOT of trash walking the streets lol you know, we have much more bimbos (frehot) per normal population….

  3. Cassidy says:

What I’m wondering is how you wash them? Like, can you remove the sock bit, or are the flip flops washer safe? Or is it hand wash only?
seems like a lot of hassle for a lot of ugly!

  4. Simone says:

this is hilarious, because a few days ago I saw these in a magazine, and I thought ‘the Fashion Police would just love these’…

  5. JJ says:

not a bad idea…wait…are they stuck together?

  6. Sanuk says:

Thanks for taking the time to check them out! We were going for real different. Glad to hear the opinion its always appreciated!

    Sanuk!

  7. Hannah says:

  8. New York says:

    Ew.

  9. reneerenee87 says:

Really? This is even worse than the socks with the toes in them made specifically for flip flops. Come on….I wear flip flops so I DONT have to wear socks….EVEN in the dead of winter…..these are awful, I’m supposed to pay 30 bucks because you added socks to a 2.00 pair of flip flops??? Get real!

  10. Mary says:

    …I think they’re cute.
