We’ve made this image a little bigger than usual because this is one bag that you really need to see up close to get the full effect: in fact, we’d recommend a trip to Net-a-Porter to use the zoom facility there, although what we’d really like to do is touch this one and find out what hundreds of little gems feel like when they’re stuck to a bag like this.
As for what they look like, well, the evidence is before you. We’ve been seeing gems stuck to shoes for years now, so we guess it’s only fair that handbags should get their turn to be decked out in a similar fashion. This is certainly a dazzling bag to look at – probably literally so if you tried to gaze at it in strong sunlight – and it has a dazzling price, too: it’s $2,995 at Net-a-Porter.
When they first came back into our lives a few years ago, they were ridiculous, in an “Oh God, not the 80s AGAIN!” kinda way.
Then, gradually, they wormed their way into the collective consciousness, and became almost-acceptable, in an “I can’t quite believe I’m going to say this, but they’re actually quite versatile,” kinda way.
Now, with the arrival of these ankle ruffle leggings from Forever 21, leggings are, once again, completely and utterly ridiculous. In fact, we can’t even bring ourselves to arrest them because we’re laughing too hard at them.
We were going to play Guess What It Is with this, but what the hell, we’ll just tell you: it’s a brooch.
A furry brooch.
A $216 furry brooch. Which, OK, isn’t the most blatant example of Daylight Robbery we’ve ever seen, but the fact that there are people who would walk into a store and think this was worth dropping $200+ on fascinates us.
Seriously, shoes or furry brooch, shoes or furry brooch? Anyone going to go for “furry brooch”? Is so, here’s where to get it…
So, we all wear shorts over our trousers from time to time, right? What do you mean, “no”? Of COURSE we do. It’s… edgy! And, um, “bang on trend”! Well, Ann Demeulemeester must think so, anyway, because she’s thoughtfully created this… this frankenpant…which combines both trousers AND shorts. Handy for people who can’t quite make up their minds in the morning: or they would be if the trousers weren’t stuck to the shorts, making this one of the most expensive cases of stuck-together-clothes we’ve seen in a long time. And one of the most bizarre, because seriously, shorts over pants? Why would you?
Granted, the pants in question are super-skinny, and could almost quality as leggings – or “treggings” at least. Does that make it all OK, though? We think not, but if you think it does, these are £325 at Yoox.com.
The Fash Pack have already moved onto Milan, but as London Fashion Week draws to a close, here’s a quick look at what everyone was wearing to one of the most celebrity-heavy shows: Burberry’s S/S 10 collection, with current poster girl Emma Watson (above) just one of the attendees.
Who else was there? Take a look under the jump to find out…
Dita Von Teese launched her second lingerie collection for Wonderbra this week, although she declined to show ooff the undies herself, letting two models do the, er, dirty work for her while she reclined in a black dress, leather gloves and – what else? – Christian Louboutin stiletto heels.
The collection is called the “Party Edition” and is available at various outlets across Europe (sorry, rest of the world). Take a look under the jump to see some of the pieces, or view the full collection here. What do you think of it?
Brrrr! Starting to get a bit chilly now, isn’t it? And as those Autumn nights draw in, we know you’ll all be looking for ways to continue wearing plastic flip-flops without freezing, right? Well, shoe brand Sanuk has the answer: it’s called the Tube Flop, and as you can see, it’s the unholy alliance of flip-flops and tube socks. (Or “legwarmers” as we would call them.)
Flip-flops and tube socks, flip-flops and tube socks. Nope, no matter how many times we say it, it never sounds any better. Or looks any better, actually, because seriously: if you really MUST attach socks to sandals, is there any reason the socks must be so damn ugly? The ones in the middle, for instance, remind us of a pair of curtains from the 70s. That someone threw up on.
And we’d also like to take issue with this rash statement from Zappos:
“Wearing socks and sandals used to be an absolute fashion faux pas; now, it’s a chic statement!”
No, Zappos. No, it’s really not. Just trust us on that one.
