Georgina Goodman in ‘Boots-Pretending-to-be-Shoes’ shocker

georgina goodman knee boots Georgina Goodman in Boots Pretending to be Shoes shockerWe’ve come to expect better things from Georgina Goodman. In fact, we’d go so far as to say she’s one of our very favourite designers, so it was particularly distressing for us to catch one of her boot creations red-handed (or red-legged, as the case may be) in the act of impersonating a pair of shoes. Regular readers will know our position on impostor footwear, but we’re actually inclined to turn a blind eye to this transgression, which seems fairly minor compared to some other examples of this particular fashion crime.

What do you think? Should we let these boots off with a warning, or does the fact that they’re pretending to be shoes automatically earn them Fashion Criminal status?

The Uni-Lazy: like a Snuggie with legs, or an adult onesie

the uni lazy The Uni Lazy: like a Snuggie with legs, or an adult onesie

So, everyone’s heard of the Snuggie, right? It’s the blanket with sleeves, and the only thing that’s saved it from Fashion Police arrest is the fact that the Snuggie is designed to be worn in the comfort and privacy of your own home, and we have no jurisdiction there.

Now, though, it looks like the Snuggie has grown legs and walked right out into the open, calling itself the Uni-Lazy. As you can see, it’s basically like an adult onesie. The difference between this and other such products, however, is that the makers of the Uni-Lazy suggest that, rather than just wearing it to bed or around the house, it would be the perfect garment to wear… why, just about anywhere!

Here’s our favourite photo of the Uni-Lazy in action:

Ugly Prom Dress Sighting: the zebra-print prom dress x2

zebra print ugly prom dress Ugly Prom Dress Sighting: the zebra print prom dress x2

Nothing says “prom” quite like all-over animal print, does it?

Of course, with animal print – and particularly zebra print – being oh-so fashionable right now, perhaps this dress is simply “bang on trend“? Whaddya think?

[Thanks to Andrea for the report!]

We also have a confirmed sighting of a second zebra print prom dress, this time from Minnah:

Add shoulderpads to any outfit, thanks to the Magic Natural Shoulderpads!

magic shoulder pads1 Add shoulderpads to any outfit, thanks to the Magic Natural Shoulderpads!

You know the shoulder-pad trend has taken off when you start to see the pads themselves for sale, ready to be inserted into any outfit you like.

These ones are called ‘Magic Shoulders’ and are £9 at ASOS.com, who’re selling them in camel and black. Are you enjoying the current shoulderpad “craze” (we use that word in its loosest form, obviously) enough to want to have a set on hand so you can add the pad to everything, though, or is this another look you’d rather see consigned to the 80s?

Whatever your thoughts on shoulderpads, it doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere just yet, so be prepared to see a whole lot more of them on your fashion travels.

Daylight Robbery: Antonio Marras lace skirt

antonio marras lace skirt Daylight Robbery: Antonio Marras lace skirtWhat do you mean “old lace curtain/tablecloth loosely tied a the waist”? That right there is a $913 skirt, we’ll have you know! And who cares if it could only ever really be useful as a beach cover-up, and even then people will wonder why you brought a curtain to the beach, and you’ll be terrified about getting it dirty? It’s DESIGNER, dontchya know?

Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to source some, er, old lace curtains. For completely unrelated reasons.

Style On Trial: Roberto Cavalli suede ankle boots with curved heels

roberto cavalli ankle boots Style On Trial: Roberto Cavalli suede ankle boots with curved heels

We could look at this image all day. Well, OK, maybe not ALL day, but there’s something very satisfyingly dramatic about these boots, and if it wasn’t for the little curly bits on the heels, we’d love them unreservedly. We just can’t make our minds up about the heels, though. Do we love them? Do we hate them? Do they look too much like a piece of furniture? Does the whole shoe look a bit like a stylised rocking chair, in fact?

Oh, we don’t know. What we do know is that they’re by Roberto Cavalli, and they’re $1,364 at Zappos. Do they get a Yay or a Nay from the ladies and gentlemen of the Fashion Police jury, though?

Andrea Crews harem pants make sure all eyes are on your crotch

andrea crew harem pants Andrea Crews harem pants make sure all eyes are on your crotchSometimes it can be hard to make sure your outfit really emphasises your crotch to the absolute maximum, can’t it? We know Lady Gaga and Katie Price will empathise with this problem, although we’re not sure either of them will appreciate this particular solution to it, which involves placing writing on the crotch of your pants, and then turning it upside down, so people have to stare even harder to try and work out what it says.

And what does it say? Well, something “is the future”, apparently. We’re not sure what, though, and we’ve spent more time looking at this crotch than we really want to, so we’re going to leave it up to you to fill in the blanks, readers? Fashion crime is the future? Filling your diaper in the name of fashion is the future? WHAT?

Topshop commit yet another Stuck-Together-Clothes Crime

topshop dress and cardigan stuck together Topshop commit yet another Stuck Together Clothes Crime

Tragic. This poor dress was just innocently minding its own business when WHAM! There’s a cardigan stuck to it and it can’t get free, OMG!

We’ve noticed a dramatic increase in this kind of crime recently: it seems nothing is safe from the stuck-togetherness right now, so we’re issuing a warning to all of you -  be on your guard. Do not leave your clothing unattended, or you may return to find it stuck to something else. And we wouldn’t want that now, would we?

Still, at least there is hope for those poor people who are completely incapable of working out for themselves which cardigan to wear with a dress. Coming soon: dresses with cardigans, underwear, tights, shoes and jackets stuck to them! Surely that’s then next step, after all?
