This dress comes to us direct from 1985 not from a specialist prom dress store, like so many of the Ugly Prom Dresses we're forced to arrest, but from our old friend Topshop. This gives us cause for concern. Are Topshop trying to popularise the shiny satin look of the Ugly Prom Dress? Are these in fashion now? Are they, to use a term we've come to hate, "on trend"? God, we hope not. We just don't have the manpower to be able to deal with an outbreak of crimes like this one.
On the, er, plus side, this dress DOES appear to have saddlebags. Which is… handy. We guess.
Topshop describe this one as "a show-stopping dress, to be worn with killer heels". (We hope they mean the "killer" heels bit literally. As in, heels that would kill the dress.) If you agree with them, it's £50 and you can buy it here.
Even without the “saddle bags” it would still be ugly.
I reckon if you take away the saddle bags, and the puff sleeves, it wouldn’t be bad…
I don’t think Topshop has any idea what “prom dress” actually means.

There’s no way anyone would “bust a move” on a girl in that dress. Even if some poor lad tried, the side airbags would most likely deploy & deter
This looks like a “before” dress in a John Hughes movie. Some clever girl could probably cut it down to cute. But for that amount of $$$, why bother?

I really like it. I just hate the fabric.
Also, the neckline is kinda eeeeehhhh….
i love the fabric and look, but I think the puffy sleeves and puffy…waist are too much together, but I think it would look great if it only had puffy sleeves and a pencil-skirt waist, or even the puffy waist with simple sleeves.
I actually don’t think this dress is that bad. The design works together and nothing looks too out of place. I f you’re a daring one, go for it! The dress reminds me of a modern-day geisha, the silky fabric, neckline and waist gives it an Oriental feel.

its actually really hot! the neckline is flattering and the fabric hugs in the right places
give it another chance, its not that bad
