Well I like the black band around the waist – it gives the dress a shape (unlike most sequin dresses which are shapeless tunics) but it’s too OTT for me.
<3 LOOOOVE.
Ooooh, just my kind of thing!
It looks itchy.
I have to say I rather like this one.
Sure it might be a bit scratchy to your arms, but it looks great.
^-.-^
I’ve had a dress like this – under arms will get mighty chafed
gorgeous
at last this site have managed to find a decent dress of the day!
It looks great on the model but I could never wear it.
“at last this site have managed to find a decent dress of the day!”
*sigh*
I get really tired of repeating this for the benefit of the DOTD haters, but seriously, if it’s really that bad, why not send in some suggestions of your own? We’re more than happy to publish reader-nominated dresses – or, of course, you can just continue to post snide comments about the ones we select, without doing anything constructive to make the column better: it’s up to you.
but arnt we allowed freedom of speech? it would be boring if EVERYBODY liked something, its not the way the world works! its just my opinion, please dont take it personally okay!
Yes, of course you’re allowed to state your opinion, but your comment came across more like an attack on the column *as a whole* rather than an opinion about a particular dress. And sure, you’re free to say you hate the whole column too, if that’s how you feel, but if you want to help us actually change and improve the things you dislike, it would be more constructive to give us your suggestions.
And I don’t take comments about these dresses personally: they’re not my dresses, and they’re here to provoke discussion, not because I personally like them (a lot of the time I wouldn’t personally wear the dress selected). So opinions are actively encouraged: you’ll see lots and lots of people on this site saying they don’t like a particular item, and discussion like that is an important part of what this site is about.
Misha, there’s a bit difference between saying
“at last this site have managed to find a decent dress of the day!”
and saying
“Ooh, now there’s a dress of the day I can get excited about.”
The first one comes off like an attack against the column, and the second says predominantly the same thing, but is much more positive.
It is a stunning, dress, though, isn’t it?
^-.-^
The dress is lovely just from an asthetics point of view .. and even the knowledge that my poor triceps would be red raw by the end of the night does little to hinder it’s loveliness in my eyes.
I really like it – enough that I purchased it yesterday and it arrived today! It’s really gorgeous on (quite short though) and the satin waistband gives you a great shape!
It’s a little on the big side though – i’m a pretty average size 12 and it’s quite big on me (woohoo!
So got my xmas party dress sorted already hee hee
Now there a sequin number that I wouldn’t mind having in my closet. “Vedy nice” as Borat would say.
A♥D♥O♥R♥E
i love sashes and bands around the waists
but i was just wondering. if say a size 16/18 girl wears this, wouldn’t she look like a disco ball?
i’m a size 16. i wud love to wear this dress but i think i will be too self conscious to wear it. lol.
now that dress is stunning! I’ve just ordered it! fingers crossed it’ll fit!!!
How do you buy it???
