Celebrity Style on Trial: Alyson Michalka at the Los Angeles Premiere of ‘Bandslam’

LFI BANDSLAM014 Celebrity Style on Trial: Alyson Michalka at the Los Angeles Premiere of Bandslam

From the front, this dress looks fairly demure: in fact, you could almost describe it as "boring". A quick turn to the side, though, and it suddenly becomes a whole lot racier.

This is Alyson Michalka, working the now familiar "giant chunks of my dress are missing!" look at the Los Angeles premiere of 'Bandslam'. Is she committing a crime of fashion, though, by flashing much more of her leg than we're used to seeing, or do you love her look?

  1. I like the idea but think the dress is a little overdone.
    -the neckline looks odd
-there is too much lace detail for me – the arm, back, leg, AND neckline are oversaturating the effect
-the leg cut is too large – almost like it’s highlighting part of her butt too…
I’d chalk this one up to a miss.

  2. ditto the last post- I like the idea, but for a disney star (or anyone, really) its a bit overdone for me.
The lace is nice, though. I would say keep it to the neckline and the legs.

  3. It would be great in a zombie flick but after that, it looks like someone spilt acid on the dress en route to the carpet.

  4. The dress along with the makeup & hair is a little too “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” for me. I’d give it a cap sleeve, change the leg lace to a more slit-like slice shape…use half as much hairspray. I think the fun of cut-out dresses is to make the peek-a-boo inserts a fun surprise. Keep the make up, hair, and cut of the dress is demure so it really plays up the naughtiness of the lace. Like wearing lacey knickers under a tailored power suit.

  5. You know, I love the hair and I love the shoes, but that dress has crossed the line of trashy-but-fun and gone fully to the side of “Oh, honey, no.”

  6. Wow! Everyone is so hard on Aly! I like it! The WHOLE package. It’s definitely something I’d wear if I had some place special to go with my guy!
