Primark’s Autum 09 Collection: what do you think?

Are you ready to start thinking about Autumn fashion yet? No, we’re not either. But with the world of fashion always operating one season ahead, think about it we must, so here’s a quick look at Primark’s Fall collection, which generally gives us a good idea of what a large percentage of the UK population will be wearing – and what eBay sellers will be profiting on.

Some of these pieces will be available in store now, but you’ll have to wait until September/October for others. Prices are what you’d expect from the Polyester Palace, around £15 for dresses, £12 for tops and £22 for shoes – which you can see in more detail over at Shoeperwoman.

You’ll find some more images under the jump – don’t forget to tell us what you think!

  1. I really like it all. It’s maybe a bit much for some, but I dunno, I like every piece in it’s own way. My favorite is probably that first blazer, mostly because I’m wearing something very similar to it right now, and I’m dying for hot pink lining.

  2. It does look great. Although I am a bit concerned that pieces like that lovely high waisted skirt would feel really cheap and nasty in person. The collection photographs really well though!

  3. Urgh! It’s like the 80′s threw up in even more flammable fabrics than we worn back then. I hate nearly all of it.

  4. I love the top half of the first outfit, and the high waisted skirt outfit too but a) I never see anything like this in store and b) I bet if I did it would look cheap and nasty

  5. I think maybe all together it’s overkill. I’d definitley wear each and every one of those pieces if I could style them differently and take away the 80s vibe which makes them seem so common. Though it’s gonna be even harder this winter to go out in Primark and not spot someone else wearing the exact same thing. Not exactly subtle are they?

  6. I don’t know that I would for sure wear any of this, but I love how it looks in the line (except for that ghastly hair lol). I think I just like the craziness of the 80s, and I would hope we use better fabrics now :)

  7. The model looks oddly disjointed and disproportionate, like somebody cut up the picture and glued it back together wrong. not sure how I feel about that. I did like the blue dress, though.

  8. Actually: the 80s was very much about cotton and it was also the decade when linen came back in suits. There were much more synthethics in the late 60s, 70s and late 90s/early 00s.
Having said that I must say that I really like the first dress and blouse, though I wouldn’t wear a dress that short.

  9. Darn, I think I threw out my crimper sometime back in 1987 … :P
It (the collection, that is) photographs well, but I can’t see myself buying any of it .. with the exception of the cream one-shouldered blouse in pic 4 which I think would be great with dressy black jeans and boots).

  10. thost sequinnned jeans or leggings are gorgeouss! and the shiny top and blazer. its abit much for me though.. everything im wearing today is from primark [;

  11. I actually really like it, normally for that sort of stuff on the highstreet you’ll have to be going to Topshop and paying £70 for a dress like the blue one, so it’s great for people that like to take risks with fashion and trends.

  12. I love them , nearly all of them. But i’m sorry to say it looks like copycat. I work in big mall in Paris, and nearly everything look like cheaper copies of the previous Balmain collection.
Sorry for my english. I try hard! ; )

  13. i like the sequin leggings, faux fur coat and that splattered dress. so what if it looks like cheap copies, not everyone can afford Balmain!

  14. Not in my age range sadly but must say it all looks really good! Pity the lack of quality means things will fall apart after a couple of wears (if you’re lucky)…but by then the Primark devotees will be onto the next thing anyway.
More fashion power to masses, I say!

  15. I remember when I was in high school and this sort of thing was all the rage.
I do have to ask why the love affair with square shoulders? I won’t even go into the poodle hair.
Oh, and #4 doesn’t have a high waist; it’s just that #3 is dropped to the point of barely being above crotch level. And it wouldn’t make that on anyone who doesn’t have the model’s incredibly long hip-line.

  16. Love the collection, definitely see some Balenciaga and Lanvin inspiration there. Not sure how the pieces will look in person though. Their designs are definitely better than the actual quality of the garment.

  17. loving it!!!!! i will be buying the black power jacket and the over the knee boots, for deffo, who cares if its cheap, at least i get to dress the way i want, in fashionable items, hellooooo has everyone else forgotten theres a recession on, primark- ROCKS XXX

  18. I know it is kind of late, that was last year collection, But did someone actually see this exposed zip faux fur coat? Does it realy look as good as it pictured?
