Celebrity Style on Trial: Geri Halliwell at the Cartier International Polo Day

Geri Halliwell gains Fashion Police points here for Most Inventive Use of a Lace Doily. She loses them again, however, for… well, for turning up to the Cartier International Polo Day wearing a lace doily in the first place.

Like Anna Friel before her, we don't think this dress seems like the kind of thing you'd really be able to relax in: in fact, it seems to us that you'd probably walk around all day worrying about this kind of thing happening:

Our officers weren't totally sure what Geri was doing here, but guessed it probably had something to do with the white bodysuit she was wearing underneath her doily. We mean dress:

So, to conclude: white lace doily over matching bodysuit = not something we'd wear ourselves, but never mind what we think: what do YOU think, readers? Is Geri guilty or innocent of the charge of committing crimes against fashion?

I actually like the dress but wish it wasn’t so see through. And I wanna steal her shoes.

If the dress had a full-length underlay, I would actually like it.

I agree; if it were fully lined, I think it would be delicious.

I actually feel for her. I don’t think she realized the potential wardrobe malfunction, and it IS a pretty little frock. Too bad about that underlay. That second pic is adorable, the poor thing! LOL.

I like the dress but I probably would never wear it without a slip underneath it. And possibly not without tights. Geri is looking hot though!

The dress is beautiful. She should have worn a slip under it instead.

Like everyone else, I think it would have been pretty cute if she’d only worn a slip underneath.

I would like it if it were longer and has an actual lining as opposed to that weird bodysuit thing.

It reminds me of the lace Prada dresses that were so popular last fall.

As is, I can see the dress being worn as a swimsuit cover-up.
I agree with the others who said this dress would be great with a full underlay. If she made that change, the outfit would be perfect. She chose great shoes to elongate the appearance of her legs (not that she needed that), and also a really beautiful leather bag.

Cute dress. Looking naked is tacky. I agree that the shoes are wonderful.

Please, Spanx are great, but they should not be worn when a slip would be better.

The lace is stunning and I’m sure it must have come with a slip – however I wonder if the slip might have felt uncomfortable underneath because Geri has chosen to wear the dress quite fitted – perhaps more so than the designer intended – to her figure and instead thought she could get away with a bodysuit.
I have to disagree about the shoes, though the right colour – they are a bit too heavy in style to compliment the delicate dress.

I concur with the majority that it is a lovely dress providing it were fully lined. Though I’m not sure what I think of Geri matching her overly-orange spray tan with the colour of her shoes and bag.

I think it does have a slip but the slip is creeping up and she is trying to pull it down. If you look at the bottom picture it looks like something is bunched up under the dress.

If perhaps there had been a slip ATTACHED to the dress so it wasn’t riding up, then it would be perfect. As it is, I still really like it. I think it’s very sweet and fresh.

I think she looks great even though I’d prefer a white underdress instead of this bodysuit thing. which would be much more comfy as well!
