Fashion Police Fraud Squad: Asda’s £16 version of Kate Moss’s Balmain mini dress

Asda-balmain-dress

(Erin at Pretty Vintage gave us the heads-up about this one – go check out her blog!)

Asda aren’t even pretending to have come up with this design all by themselves: that’s their advertising above, and as you can see, they make no bones about the fact that the dress is inspired by the fabulous Balmain number Kate Moss wore to the Star Treck premiere earlier this year.

Of course, no one’s going to be mistaking this dress for the Balmain original, and, well, you wouldn’t really expect anyone to, given that it’s only £16. It’s a cheap n’ cheerful way to get a similar look, though, and if you want it, you can buy it in-store or from the Asda website – but don’t be surprised if it sells out fast!

I think the Asda version is actually better than the original – less obnoxious. More of the refined glamour, versus LOOK AT ME glamour.

I agree that the ASDA dress is actually nicer, it’s less OTT. Plus the price is a bonus, obviously!
