Sleeves stuck to hem Style on Trial: Sleeves stuck to hem dresses

We’ve shown you the phenomenon of the “sleeves-stuck-to-sides” dress before, and the idea received a pretty mixed reaction from the ladies and gentlemen of the Fashion Police Jury.

Back then, though, we simply assumed that the dress in question was a one-off: that it was working alone, and we’d probably never see its like again.

Now, though, those dresses are everywhere. Well, they are if by “everywhere” you mean “eDressMe“, anyway. They currently have several versions of this style in stock, which makes us wonder if a trend is imminent. And if it is, we want to know what you think of it.

Speaking for ourselves, we kinda like the silhouette these dresses create, but we’re still not convinced we’d enjoy the idea of having our arms attached to our legs at all times. Would you?

(One more of these dresses under the jump, this time from our old friends, Ami Clubwear…)

  1. looks great in photos…but methinks that in a real life scenario it is a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen

  2. …How would that ever work as “club wear”? I guess unless you danced with your hands on your hips like that the entire night….

  3. These all remind me of Goldie Hawn on “Laugh-in”. Sock it to me! Toooo 60′s go go silliness. And yes, not being able to raise your arms above your head without your skirt going with them is just…COME on! Who THOUGHT of this? I could go on, my opinions on this dress stretch beyond the confines of a respectable comment.

  4. You don’t even have to raise your arms over your head. Just trying to put on a coat over that dress makes the real fun start… *rolleyes*

  5. Oy. Wearing this dress, you could not 1. Do your hair. 2. Drive a car. 3. Carry a purse over your shoulder. 4. Swing your arms while walking. 5. Eat or drink. ETC…. The only possible use for it is as an attractive straitjacket.

  6. Who ever heard of club wear where you can’t put your hands up in the air????
Plus, from a feminist viewpoint I don’t like clothing that restrains or restricts women as I think it’s got an unpleasant undertone (naturally this does not include body sculpture type underwear – that stuff is the work of miracle makers).

  7. I’m just curious what the dress would look like with the arms relaxed. Are all of the models of this dress going to have their hands on their hips?!

  8. uhmm…i thought i was hallucinating. But after reading the comments- whew! i know i am not. this is one of the most ridiculous outfit i have ever seen. Not to mention impractical, wardrobe malfunction-worthy, etc. etc.

  9. I have the same feelings as Melanie on this one – pair the dress with high enough stripper heels and you have the perfect doll who can neither walk nor use her arms…

  10. I wonder if you’d need a long straw to take a drink. “Thirsty, dear? Here, I brought your crazy straw.”

  11. AAAAAG! These dresses were invented by Satan to torchure the arms of fashion victims. I can’t believer some actually like the sillouette. Just where a dress with batwing sleeves and put yor hands on your hips if you like it so much! No one needs to look like they had an accident with the glue!

  12. Ugh! You have to wonder what was on the designer’s mind…But on second thoughts maybe this is a new way to stay slim…Put the nice fattening food on a high shelf, Wear the dress and Ta-daa, you can’t lift your arms to get to it…or anything else for that matter.
