Style on Trial: Deliberately ripped tights, as seen on Peaches Geldof

Well, it looks like the dreaded Clothes Ripper has struck again, and poor Peaches Geldof has been targeted for a second time! What did she do to attract the ire of the Ripper this time, we wonder?
Of course, joking aside, the "oops, I laddered my tights, but I don't care because that's how totally badass I am!" look has been around ever since Rodarte sent models in carefully ripped tights down the runway last year (and before that, too, for that matter), but here's Peaches, who lets no trend go untried, arriving at Nice airport this weekend in her own version. Nice hair.
What do you think of deliberately laddered tights, readers? We think his is a hard look to pull off – if we tried it, we'd just look like homeless people, for instance, and passers-by would throw us their spare change – but what about you? Are you rocking ripped tights, or does the very sight of them make you want to offer their wearer a pot of clear nail polish, in a bid to repair the "damage"?

oh no! i don’t like these, i don’t like these at all. for me, tights should always be clean looking and in a good shape. the sight of even a tiny rip gives me the chills.
My teenage daughter will be so pleased to see this pic. I am constantly moaning about her not putting ripped tights straight in the bin, and she leaves the house in a hurry and doesn’t give a damn about ripped tights – she is a badass gal!
normally I hate ripped tights but when I’m going for that punk rock vibe I could work em, as long as there really ripped and it looks deliberate. I hate that “one hole” look.

I agree that it starts to make you look homeless. But I’m okay with it in certain punk and goth looks.

I don’t actually think Peaches pulls it off. The rest of her outfit looks too prim.
You think she accidentally laddered her tights in the cab on her way to the airport, so grabbed her nailfile and tried to make it look like a deliberate fashion statement?

I’m actually a fan of Peaches. Ripped tights can work if you want a punky vibe, but they have to ripped artfully, so it looks edgy and not like your cat gave it a go. What I’m wondering is where is Peaches’ bottoms for her top!?
They can work if you can pull them off. Peaches can. It just takes the confidence to say, “Look at my badass-ness.”
Proper punk-style ripped tights should be ripped all over (and preferably layered), not just badly laddered over the knee – all that’s missing here is the grazes…
I actually like ripped thights but not with that kind of dress and jacket…

Um….we did this when I was a kid some thirty years ago. For the truly “accidentally on purpose” look I think she needs to apply a few carefully placed globs of “Pinch me Pink” nail polish for the appearance that she at least *tried* to stop the runs.
