Poor, brave, Kelly Clarkson, seen here smiling bravely through what must have been the horrendous pain of having her feet removed by one of fashion's most feared criminals: THE FOOT SNATCHER!
We'd actually missed this crime, so Fashion Police reader Camelia had to step in and take Kelly into the witness protection scheme. When we look closely, we can see that the Snatcher has actually left some of Kelly's feet visible, but still – with all of that fabric dragging on the ground, how on earth is the poor girl supposed to walk?
Hey, what a coincidence – that's exactly what WE wear to travel in, too! Great minds! One more under the jump: we know (or we'd like to assume, at least) that she got changed once she was actually on the plane, but we love to think of her, sitting there mid-flight in her underwear. (Also: brrrr!)
Marks & Spencer, British Institution that they are, don't tend to get a whole lot of attention here at The Fashion Police, but they've just done something to guarantee our attention -releasing a vintage-inspired collection inspired by pieces from their archive. Given that the brand is 125 years old this year, that's quite some archive to go through, and the results are rather impressive. We love the polka dot dress shown above, but there are lots more where that came from, so take a look under the jump for some more images, or visit the 125 Collection, as it's called, at the M&S website.
A simple sundress is more or less a wardrobe staple at this time of year, and we think this 'Evonne' dress from Forever 21 looks like a good buy for £22.80. It's suitably simple, but the bright red colour makes it stand out, and the flattering shape will make it easy to dress up with a pair of heels and some jewellery. Or you could just as easily dress it down with a pair of flat sandals and a cardi – up to you.
Remember hems? Remember when they were straightforward and unfussy? Those days are gone. These days we sometimes struggle to find dresses that don't have what's known as a "hitched" hemline – something you can see illustrated in the image above.
The hitch skirt or dress is a close relation of the puffball: it creates a skirt with a lot of volume, and a much "rounder" shape than most other styles, although all hitched dresses are not created equal, and some are more "hitched" than others – as you can also see above.
What does everyone think of this trend? Is it a welcome change from boring old straight hems, or is it too close to the puffball for comfort? Tell us!
This week's Wear or Die is a special treat for those of you who love jumpsuits. And for those of you who don't – well, it isWear or Die, what do you expect?
For those of you who've never played before, a quick recap of the rules:
1. You must pick one of the outfits above to wear – on pain of death!
2. Death is not an option. Sorry.
See, easy, isn't it? Well, it would be easy if it wasn't a choice between a droopy crotch or massive hips, obviously. But it is, so let's decide: which outfit would you choose?
Who's been buying all those baggy, patterned jumpsuits, we wondered? You know, the ones with the elastic around the ankles, for an extra-baggy effect?
And today the answer came to us: it's Lindsay Lohan! Who we actually thought was wearing a maxi dress, until we took a closer look at those ankles. Still, at least she looks comfortable, no? And it's certainly a change from the leggings-as-pants look.
One more under the jump… and if you just can't get enough of jumpsuits right now, look out for this week's Wear or Die, coming up later today. Don't say we didn't warn you…
The item you see above you is both a classic example of Clothes That Are Stuck Together, AND, at first glance, looked a little bit like a pair of drop-crotch pants.
You'd expect us to absolutely hate then, then, no?
But we don't. Or not really, anyway. Now that we've come to terms with the presence of leggings in our lives (something we never thought would happen, but it's funny how these things creep up on you), we can actually see how these skirt leggings could come in handy. After all, it's one more weapon in the fight against Leggings Worn As Pants, and that can only really be a good thing. Plus, it'll eliminate the need to keep searching for tops that are the perfect length to wear over leggings, and we appreciate that, too. So no, we don't think we actually hate these.
Or maybe we've just taken leave of our senses?
What do you think, readers: do you love or loathe this latest evolution of the legging – the fashion trend that just won't die?
