American Apparel: perfect for pregnancy, apparently

Americanapparel American Apparel: perfect for pregnancy, apparently

We can't say for certain, of course, but if The Fashion Police were pregnant, we can't help thinking that the last thing we'd feel like slipping into would be one of American Apparel's spandex unitards. (Not just because we're led to believe pregnancy involves a lot of trips to the bathroom, and we don't think we could be bothered having to get more or less undressed each time.)

Then again, The Fashion Police AREN'T pregnant, and one of the last things we feel like slipping into is… one of American Apparel's spandex unitards. So maybe it's just us. AA, however, in their infinite wisdom, recently launched an advertising campaign in which they point out how "perfect" their items are for pregnant women. We reckon pregnant women should probably be the judge of that one, so tell us folks: what do you think?

Fashion Police Fraud Squad: Topshop’s poplin stripe dress for less

Stripe top dress Fashion Police Fraud Squad: Topshops poplin stripe dress for less

Good news, readers! Remember Topshop's poplin stripe dress? The one we made Dress of the Day a couple of weeks ago, while bemoaning the fact that it was sold out in the red and navy colours we liked best? Well, we managed to find an almost identical design over at Ark Clothing, and as well as being only £24.99, with free shipping, these dresses are available in red, navy, blue and a pink/navy mix.

Not all sizes are still available, unfortunately, but fear not: while out policing our local shopping mall this weekend, The Fashion Police noticed similar dresses cropping up in a couple of different stores, so if you love it, you shouldn't have to look too far to find one. Or, of course, the Topshop version is still selling on eBay, if you fancy your chances.

Dress of the Day: G21 Petal Prom Dress by George at Asda

Green petal dress Dress of the Day: G21 Petal Prom Dress by George at Asda

Just in case you hadn't noticed, we've been really impressed by the selection from George at Asda recently. Take this petal prom dress, for instance. If we hadn't found it ourselves, on the George website, we don't think we'd have guessed it came from a supermarket. We love everything about it, from the corset top to the little love heart belt – oh, and the £18 price tag. Get it here.

What Celebrities Wear to the Airport: Diane Kruger in pegged jeans

Spl102513 001[1] What Celebrities Wear to the Airport: Diane Kruger in pegged jeans

For some reason, The Fashion Police are fascinated by photos of celebrities at airports. In some ways, we find this even more interesting than what they wear on the red carpet, because almost anyone can look good on the red carpet, with the help of a celebrity stylist and a borrowed gown. It's that little bit harder to still look good stepping off a long-haul flight, though, so we like to see what the celebs wear to fly in – or, in some cases, what they wear to strut through the airport in before getting changed on the plane.

We already know that Lady Gaga wears knickers and a bra to the airport, but here's the other side of the coin: Diane Kruger looking comfortable and casual in pegged jeans, a blazer and straw fedora. No makeup, either, unless we're very much mistaken.

We know which celerity WE'D rather dress like (clue: it's Diane) but what about you, oh readers? Do you dress up or down to travel?

Commes des Garcons balloon skirt: for when you want to look like a ball with legs

Balloon skirt Commes des Garcons balloon skirt: for when you want to look like a ball with legs

Do not adjust your sets, readers, this is not just a large, black dot, it is, in fact, a skirt. And as such, it's in clear contravention of Section 6 of The Fashion Police Code: the section which states that items of clothing should not be able to have the word "balloon" used to describe them. Ever.

If you're thinking it might look better on, though, let us disabuse you of that belief with the image you'll find under the jump…

Heavy Metal: Phi’s leather and metal sandals

Phi sandals Heavy Metal: Phis leather and metal sandals

Well, we wouldn't like to come across these in a dark alley: they look like they'd be able to do some serious damage to our poor toes if we got on the wrong side of them!

Of course, given that they're shoes, and therefore designed to be worn, we have to assume that these Phi sandals are much lighter on the feet than they actually look. What about their looks, though? How do you feel about that chunky metal heel and the huge hoop on the toes? Worth paying 1005 euros for? If so, you can buy them here.

Sock Horror! Bebaroque Fringe Thigh Highs

Fringe thigh highs Sock Horror! Bebaroque Fringe Thigh Highs

We know Bebaroque's fringed tights have been wildly popular across the fashion blogosphere. We know that. But if we were forced to wear these thigh-high versions which are flesh-coloured, to help create the impression that the "hair" is growing directly out of your legs, we think we'd have a hard time not reaching for the razor. You?

We’re taking the day off…

Badge Were taking the day off...

It's a bank holiday here in the UK, and Memorial Day in the U.S., so  The Fashion Police are taking the opportunity to put our feet up and allow all the fashion criminals out there to go about their business unhindered.

If you have the day off, enjoy it! And if you don't: that sucks. Sorry.

Back tomorrow,
