Random Celebrity Fashion Moment of the Day: Katy Perry in a silver mini dress and Louboutins in Japan

They say you should never mix your metals, but when you’re Katy Perry, these so-called “rules” don’t apply. (And actually, we’re not so sure they apply to the rest of us, either.)
Here she is at the new H&M branch in Harajuku, Tokyo last night, helping promote the company’s new line of AIDS awareness clothes. We’ don’t think the silver dress is part of it, but hey, you never know. Would you buy it, if so, readers? What do you think of Katy’s shiny metallics here?

Katy Perry is a fast student of fashion. She’s still learning, I think the skirt is a tad too short and the overall look seems to be lacking something, but not bad, particularly for the occasion. I just wish so badly she’d move away from retro. That’s Dita territory, thou shalt not tread. And she’d make such a fierce, hot rocker chick. Whatever, nobody asked me.
I disagree about staying away from retro. I love Dita, I really do. But she is not the only one who can find inspiration from retro styles. That’s now how fashion works; and I think that Katy mixes it up enough that she makes it her own.
As far as the dress, I agree that it is a tad short for the event, but I love the mix of metals, actually.
It’s not that retro… Look at the shoes. Besides, I find Dita tacky and looking as if she is trying too hard. there is a fine line between retro and costume, and Dita is on it.
as for Katy’s dress – its confusing. Its so short, but the top looks very virgin.
she looks like an odd drag queen version of herself…what is up with that weird hairline? it looks like wig tape or something
Hmm, I like it. I think the shoes are a little too much with the dress, I think a solid gold in a simple pump instead of sparkly and strappy would’ve gone better.
Hmmm… I like it. Although silver pumps could have been more appropriate.
You know, for Katie Perry, this isn’t that bad. She set a low bar with that bizzare, loud, extremely busy pant-suit-thing she wore a while back.
