The Sealpelt by Vík Prjónsdóttir – always guaranteed to make us smile

Sealpelt

Remember the seal all-in-one we featured back in January? We thought you might like to see some pictures of the design in action, being worn by real people. So here you go.

We actually think everyone should have one of these. They should be mandatory lounge wear. No, think about it: can you even imagine getting angry with someone who was wearing one of these? See, the world would be a better place! It wouldn't necessarily be a sexier place, obviously, but still…

Oh, God. The girl on violet looks so scared…

I think all of the models, with the exception of the guy who is pretending to asleep, have sort of “Good god, how did I get sucked into this joke of a job?” looks on their faces. Also, assuming you would wear this monstrosity, why would you wear it over your jeans. I mean, doesn’t that sort of negate the point of lounge wear?
The Baby version on their website, however, is utterly adorable.

It seems to be a very self aware hipster advertisement. Like, they know what they make is hideous, but ultimately, does that really matter? It reminds me of when I was in marching band, coming home on the school bus at 2 in the morning or worse LEAVING for a competition at 6 in the morning. Everyone would be doing whatever they had to to keep warm and cozy. Coffee, sweatshirts, fuzzy slippers, messy ponytails…no one was concerned about style, and actually if you WERE concerned about it, you were shut out for being pretentious. So, I quite like the direction they took this.

    These remind me of Teletubbies…

I like this kind of eccentricity!

They remind me of the cuddly pink batts ads on tv (for anyone who is in NZ) so I just can’t hate them because I love that ad so much.

  7. natalia says:

oh God. something worse than the Snuggie.

  8. Karyn says:

How does one walk in such a thing? I’m not a fan of how low the opening is.

  9. Emily says:

I actually kinda like it, it’d be great for when you’re ill and just wunna curl up and keep snug.
