Style on Trial: Proenza Schouler red patent sculpted wedge shoes

8521-871825-3

Wow. Well, these Proenza Schouler "wedges" are certainly attention-getters, but what we want to know is, do they get your attention for the right reasons or the wrong ones?

The thing that makes these stand out most, of course, is that metal bracket heel, which gives the back of the shoe a faintly industrial feel, while the front is all red patent and scroll details. Is it a combination that works, though? Given that these cost a whopping $1,301, we'd need to be really sure we loved them before splashing that amount of cash, and we'd probably also want them to be able to massage our feet and cook us dinner into the bargain.

What do you think of them? (If you like them, get them at Zappos…)

I love them! Not the price, of course, but the actual -shoe-…
I adore red shoes, and I really like the industrial theme. Sure, it’s a little strange, but I think it’s elegant, in its own, unusual way. =) Elegant and a bit ‘urban warrior’.

  2. gokarm says:

They’re expensive but unlike a lot of pricey shoes, these LOOK expensive. Stunning by Shoe Porn proportions.

  3. merges says:

Yeah, I gotta admit that I’m lovin’ these shoes as well, not the price, but the shoes look like they are FUN!

  4. Arielle says:

Meh. I normally like red shoes, but I can’t say I really like this pairing. I think the idea is neat but not as well executed as it could have been.

  5. Carol says:

Take that flippy pseudo-bow thing off the front and I’d give them a whirl.
Well, if I had that kind of money and the electric bill wasn’t due anyway!

  6. Jori says:

    I loooooove these shoes!
I love the metal with the red patent leather
I can see why some people might not like them, but I really think these people would have a change of heart if they saw them on someone with a killer outfit to go with them

  7. Celeste says:

I love them, metal heel included, and maybe even because of it. Though I’d never even spend $100 on shoes, much less $1000. Even though I have the perfect dark denim pencil skirt.

  8. Bethany says:

Does that heel act as a spring? If it does, maybe they DO massage your feet…

  9. ila, Bangalore says:

    they are absolutely gorgeous

  10. Jenny says:

i love these shoes, it’s like shoe porn. so shiny and geometric.

  11. chocoholic says:

the heel looks like some sort of architectural fixing bracket.

  12. JJ says:

a lot of interesting ideas and details that i like, maybe the only problem is there’s a lot going on, but they are still really great
