Save or Splurge: Red cropped trousers by ASOS and Jil Sander

Cropped red trousers Save or Splurge: Red cropped trousers by ASOS and Jil Sander

First up, we'd just like to say that it was not The Fashion Police who ruthlessly chopped off the top of the head of the model above, it was ASOS themselves. Sorry, model!

Second up: There are lots of differences between the two pairs of trousers seen here: in fact, the only real similarity is that they're both red, and they're both cropped. Personally, we much prefer the narrow legs and flat front of the ASOS versions on the left, which are more streamlined, with a bit of a pin-up girl vibe. That said, we'd kinda prefer the length of the Jil Sander pants on the right, which also look a little more comfortable.

If money was no option, which would you choose? Would you Save or Splurge?

  1. I’m not a cropped pants sorta girl, but out of the two I much prefer the splurge. The length is better, and they look tailored, while the save looks like they’re relying too much on stretch, and not enough on shape. It’s never a good sign when the fabric pulls across the front on the model.
Love the colour, but all in all, I’d rather wear a skirt.

  2. i love the save (even though i think the model should have gone up a size…really would it have killed her to try a 1 instead of that almighty 0) they actually look like a cute crop pant…the splurge pair looks like a pair of “mom” trousers that shrunk in the wash…flood pant city

  3. I think the “model” for ASOS is really a mannequin. It may not actually have a head. I’d save by not buying either! Perhaps it’s an outgrowth of my dislike for ambiguity.

  4. Definitely save.
I always choose pain and beauty over comfort and ugliness, so save, no matter how comfortable the splurge are.
Both are cute by the way~!!

  5. Splurge– the save ones have these weird creases across the front, and the spurge ones are more red than that hard-to-get-right peachish-redish-orangish.
    XD
