It seems fashionistas are continuing to laugh in the face of the recession: this military style denim jacket by Balmain apparently sold out within minutes of hitting the Net-a-Porter website this week – even although it was being sold for the not-so-bargain price of £2,920 / $4,220.
We like the style of the jacket, if not the bleached denim, which we think will date very quickly (and if we're paying $4,000 for a jacket, we're not going to want it to date AT ALL, ever), and clearly Balmain is enjoying a spate of huge popularity at the moment, but what do you think of it? Worth the money? Something you'd wear? Tell us!
This is an instance when I think a rental system would be best. Yes, I’d absolutely wear it for the next 2 weeks before it’s TOTALLY out of style. It has trendy written all over it. But actually, what I like about it IS the bleached denim. It casualizes it and makes it a little fresh, a little 2009 and not 1983. But not worth the dough.

i’d try to make one myself, i love diy stuff. i wouldn’t pay that much for a denim jacket to be honest.
I would wear it. for maybe.. a month at the most? That is gonna date SO quick, so whoever buys it should enjoy it while they can. Don’t take it off!

I’m not a fan. There’s not one feature that stands out as horrid, but I really don’t have anything good to say.
I have loved that jacket ever since the first time I saw it on polyvore… I want it.
I cannot imagine spending $50 on that, let alone $4,220.
I really love the style of it and the shape. I’m a jacket freak and I adore the details. But unfortunately the fact it is denim does take it down a big notch. It only it was on a more canvas-style material, something not so obviously part of a on-and-off trend. I’d wear it but I wouldn’t buy it.

Cute as a button though, but it won’t look good on me, I can guarantee that much.
Honestly, I like it because it’s unique. If people always want to wear the samea old thing, how are new things going to become in style?

OMG, I love that jacket!!, but the price tag puts me off a little, its summer and i’m really into jackets(it’s HOT in summer., y am i saying this??lol) hopefully it’s worth investing in…x
