Aaargh! Now, we know, we know: those white labels on the soles of shoes are pesky little buggers, and getting them off frequently has us cursing like sailors, not to mention breaking our nails in the process. (A little bit of hot water and a nail brush usually does the trick, we find, but we still wish shoe retailers would just stop sticking labels there in the first place.)
That, however, is no excuse for going out with the labels still proudly in place, as Diana Vickers and Jameela Jamil (don’t worry, you’re not supposed to have heard of them -they’re minor British “celebrities”) did to last week’s London premiere of ’17 Again’.
In these particular cases we accept that the shoes in question were probably borrowed, and that may explain the presence of the labels (although, that said, A-listers also borrow shoes for events, and you don’t see sticky labels on their soles, do you?), but this is a fashion crime we see ALL THE TIME in real life, with perfectly nice outfits totally cheaped by the presence of the White Label of Death.
Dont do it, folks. Remember: your soles don’t need to be red to look classy – they just have to be label free…

I have made that fashion faux pas before! It’s very embarrassing.

Oh dear – I’ve seen this so often, and always thought how terrible it was – most women don’t seem to notice: of course you can’t really see them when you stand still – but when you start walking, everyone behind you will be able to tell just how cheap these cheap looking ones were. terrible.

Huh..I do understand that one should at least take time to check their shoes, in case these tags are still there, but “makes the whole outfit look cheap”? I don’t know; if someone wouldn’t have taking a closeup shot of *the BOTTOM of someones shoe* I would never have even noticed. Maybe I’m the only one that seriously never checks for these kinds of details on celebrities, let alone bringing that into real life and caring about complete strangers and their shoe stickers.
I think that what’s amazing about these people having the sole stickers is that they have at least one personal assistant and/or stylist to take care of all those details.. AND they’re not so difficult to get rid of with a bit of cotton and nail polish remover!
I’m with sarah. I mean, I get it…but at the same time if it wasn’t pointed out I wouldn’t notice, and now that it has been pointed out…I still don’t really care. It’s just such a minor offense to me.
It does look tacky, so I use the same method I use for getting the blasted things off everything else. Use a warm blow dryer it heats the glue and usually allows you to remove it in one piece.
