The Harem Hall of Shame – Part 2

La-redoute-harem-pants

The Harem Hall of Shame (a special section of the Fashion Police jail where harem pants are isolated for their own protection. And also because we don't want them teaming up with the peep toe boots that are also incarcerated there) is starting to look a little crowded again, so we figured it was time to parade our latest batch of prisoners before you.

Leading the parade this month are these saggy beige pants from La Redoute (who have embraced the current drop-crotch "craze" with enthusiasm), which look to us like the kind of clothing you'd only wear if you were so old you were unable to wear "normal" clothes – or, indeed, to notice that your crotch was now hovering somewhere in the vicinity of your knees.

But there's more…

Toshop-harem-pants

Topshop are all about the 80s right now, and if that means they have to make their harem pants bright pink, then by God, they'll do it!

Harem-jeans

Ah, the harem jean: that most puzzling of items! Whereas at least most "regular" harem pants look like the crotch is that way by design, the crotches on harem jeans always look like they're that way by accident – or because their owners are wearing someone else's clothes by mistake. The cuffed ankles earn them extra penalties.

Convertible-harem-pants

Convertible harem pants: they can be worn as either trousers or as a jumpsuit. Isn't that, er, smashing?

HAHAH. The last picture, with the top worn over the harem trousers/jumpsuit – wow. It makes her legs look SO TINY.

  2. Celeste says:

yeah that last photo makes it look like her torso starts at her knees. Though I still haven’t actually seen anyone wearing harem pants in public.

  3. Rock Hyrax says:

lol at anu’s comment! Seriously though, this is scary – how long will it be before people start wearing these things in the street? It’s bad enough being assaulted from all sides by crocs and light brown uggs without them being topped by fancy-dress trousers…

In the States, this past month in Cosmo and Marie Claire….harem pants are being touted as the next big thing. In Cosmo. I used to have such faith in the world….maybe the Fashion Police could send them a citation?

  5. Anna says:

hahaha the last pic is awful. she looks like she has little stubby legs and a hugely long torso. I saw a girl wearing puke-colored harem pants at my school today and trying to call them “gypsy pants”. I was like honey, it doesn’t matter what you call them. They are harem pants, and they are ugly.

  6. nicole says:

the last picture reminds me of a penguin…

It puzzles me- you are allowed to have your own opinion but you seem rather close-minded. Fashion is up to whomsoever looks at it. Though you criticize some outright ridiculous things, clothing like harem pants or the like can also be worn well. Gwen Stefani looked smashing in hers! Why not try to incorporate a ‘how to wear this well’? Stretches ones mind don’t you think? :)

    Complete garbage.
A whole generation lapping up harem pants as if they are the coolest thing ever. I saw them the first tiem aroudn and hated them then.
Another fashion no-no rears it’s ugly head again.
    “…and stop…HAMMERTIME!”

I have seen them alot in the UAE and ppl r wearing it in public.
some of them look realy nice, but others awful!!
it depends on the body, the model of the pants “some are realy ugly!!”, and with what are they wearing it..

I actually went and tried a couple, both looked disgusting on me even though im skinny..
now im in canada, and i havnt seen any of those pants in stores!! while in the UAE the skinny jeans and pants were fading..and most jeans where harem!!

but still it looks nice on some ppl, but that doesnt mean they other pants styles should be banned! just like what they are doing in the UAE!!
