The curse of the open-toed boots strikes again: LD Tuttle’s ‘Spectre’ boots

Open-toed-boots

Sigh. We think this is a sight we’re going to have to get used to this year, folks. We’re not saying it’s a sight we like of course – far from it – but these open-toe boots are like weeds: no sooner do we take out one pair, than a dozen others have sprung up to replace them. Such are the frustrations of policing the world of fashion.

The latest culprits to cross our radar are these ‘Spectre’ boots by LD Tuttle, which are rather appropriately named, because we see them as the Spectre of Things To Come.

It looks like it’s going to be a long, ugly summer. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

It’s only a matter of time before they start making these “boots” with woollen top parts so they end up being legwarmers stuck together with sandals…

Will this scourge never end? The only good thing I can say is that I haven’t seen the dreaded sandal boot on an actual person yet. ‘Course, it could be because I live in Denver, and it is February.

  3. Cassie says:

I can’t stand these! Why on Earth would someone where this?! What it is even the purpose??? Are your legs cold but your toes hot???
Before you know it, UGG will capitalize on it…and then…oh God…oh God…

  4. anon. says:

love to have one of those. cant understand why people hate them.
practical for spring and autumn when weather isnt warm enough for sandals but want to wear skirts, but not with full boots.
been already quite popular in japan. why cant i get them outside of japan? such a shame

They’re actually quite sexy. It’s hilarious to watch the “world of fashion” bumble about and make the same ridiculous stuff year after year, and revile when something new and sexy comes along.
But, coming from an industry that encourage models to look like 10 year old boys, the complete disconnect with reality shouldn’t shock me by now.

I’ve been watching these shoes start to make their appearance in Greenwich Village. It just looks like some shoe makers had one two many glasses of wine while they were making their boots and cut off the front as a joke…and then some buyer bought into the madness.
