Save or Splurge: Button front dresses from Vivienne Westwood and New Look

Button-front-dresses

As you may have gathered, we've been loving New Look's range of designer-inspired dresses lately. We don't think their black, button front dress (£25)is directly inspired by Vivienne Westwood's 'Bagatelle' dress (£220 at NET-A-PORTER ) because this is a simple style that never really goes "out" of fashion, but it's similar enough to make us wonder which you'd go for?

As much as we love Vivienne Westwood (and trust us, we really love Vivienne Westwood), we actually think we prefer the New Look version in this case: it has a slightly corseted waist which would help pull us in, and although we know the fabric won't be as nice, we prefer the slightly wider neckline, too.

What about you: would you Save or Splurge?

    Definitely the New Look one!
    Much nicer shape to it.

  2. hiunna says:

definetely save on this one!! i like muh more the details on the new look dress!

  3. Workchic says:

Agree, the collar is much nicer/fresher on the New Look dress. Need to make sure it’s a good fit or that croseted shape will backfire with gaping buttons!

  4. chocoholic says:

I like the splurge one. It looks very sophisticated.

  5. Tara says:

I would be leaning towards save but are those pockets I spy on the New Look dress? Can’t stand pockets on dresses and so it will have to be splurge!

  6. Rock Hyrax says:

Save, definitely. (Have to say I’m a bit disappointed with Vivienne Westwood here.)

  7. Panthera says:

Save, definitively. I love the nipped in waist and the neckline.

  8. b. says:

Neither. The style reminds of something a post-war widow would have worn.

  9. b. says:

    Reminds ME, that is.

  10. Minx says:

Save just looks so much nicer . ..
    xoxo .

  11. kevie says:

Save, without question. It has a much more interesting cut.

  12. Fenny Wong says:

Save! It has a more interesting cut, even though I don’t really like those buttons.

  13. Bronwyn says:

    save!
the cut is much more interesting. especially the neckline.
also a waist tie? always go for the belt!

  14. Diandra says:

I like both, but I like the ’splurge’ one better. It just looks more detailed, and I don’t really like the big buttons on the other one. They’re both really cute, though!
