Roger Vivier’s £30,000 shoes: worth the money?

Roger vivier £30000 shoes

Got a spare £30,000 ($42,459) lying around doing nothing, readers? No, us neither. But let's just imagine we have, shall we? Here's something to spend that imaginary cash on, and no, it's not a fancy car or a hefty deposit on a house - it's a pair of Roger Vivier shoes!

Designed by Bruno Frisoni and unveiled at Paris Couture Week, we're going to assume these probably won't be seen on the feet of mere mortals (although they possibly will be seen on the feet of Victoria Beckham at some point). To help justify the price(or maybe not, actually), they're made from 24 ct gold-coated mesh, with silk, satin ribbon, jet and semi-precious stones. What worries us a whole lot more than that, however, is the fact that they're topped with "taxidermy birds" which have gold and crystal heads.

That seriously creeps us out, but if you're fine with it, these can be made to order, although you should expect to wait a few months for delivery. What do you think?

  • I love the birds on the toe! If they made a significantly less expensive version I would buy it. I don’t need gold, diamonds, and gemstones

I don’t know what to say about this. They remind me of Norman Bates somehow…

    “taxidermy birds”????
Like literally birds which have been killed, heads ripped off, and replaced with sparkling disco ball heads???!
I’ll take my shoes sans-corpse please.

  • Well they look gorgeous, like something out of a fairy tale, but true, I cannot get over the bird on my foot. I’d get the heebies every time it touched me. No thanks. Still…worth the money, they are stunning. I saw a site the other day selling necklaces with hummingbird skull pendants. Actual hummingbird skulls. I get the same feeling…having that dangling on my neck just makes me shudder.

Why would anyone want to wear anything with dead animals attached to it?? They would have to pay me 30k to wear anything as horrible as these shoes!!

No shoes are worth that kind of money. Especially shoes with dead birds stuck to them.

It’s sad that people waste time and money creating ridiculous things when that $42,000 could be going towards something so much better.

  • Those are pretty, a bit too much for me, but pretty. My only question is: Who can pull that off?? And I wanna see who will rock em first!

  • Yes, they are a bit much. But if you were going to go somewhere where “a bit much” wouldn’t look ridiculous then they’d be fabulous.

JESUS CHRIST. This is hideous. It’s such a shame, because under the dead birds, I can actually see a beautiful pair of golden sparkly heels, which would look greate on any occasion. When I win the lotto, I shall buy a pair and chop off the birdies.
