We mentioned last week that we've been loving the look of biker jackets lately, but if leather is too expensive (or you just don't want to wear it), there is an alternative that's looking pretty good too: jersey. These three jackets won't just look good, they'll keep you warm, too (and be soft enough to wear at home if you're a fellow Cold Person), and although only one is in a traditional "biker" shape, we love the shape of all three of these, and think they'll be the perfect way to add just a little hint of biker style to your outfit.
Today’s Dress of the Day was nominated by Fashion Police reader Miss T. She writes:
“Since I’m a retro addict, I thought that I would Google “retro clothing” and so I found this link. And THEN I found this dress. And the next moment I was in love. With this dress.”
If you’re in love with it too, it’s from Modcloth, and you can buy it here for $64.99.
Limited edition, $6,295 per pair, and created in conjunction with embroiderer Jean-Francois Lesage of the House of Lesage, we somehow don't think Christian Louboutin's Marie Antoinette-inspired shoes are aimed at us mere mortals, but they're certainly interesting to look at.
These will be sold from Louboutin's Madison Avenue boutique from February 26th, and only 36 pairs will be created, so if you want one pair to be yours, you better start queuing now.
So, who wants to place bets on which 36 celebrities will be seen with these on their feet?
We're only three days into New York Fashion Week, and already we think we've seen our favourite show. We just don't see how it can get any better than beautiful models, all dressed as Barbie dolls, wearing clothes created by some of the world's top designers, do you?
This, of course, was the Barbie Fashion Show – a catwalk event to celebrate Barbie's 50th birthday, with designers like Calvin Klein, Donna Karan and Betsey Johnson providing the clothes and Christian Louboutin providing the specially created Barbie-pink stilettos. Lots of fun, some fabulous designs, a great job with hair and makeup, and Ken even put in an appearance too. What more could you possibly want? Oh yeah, photos: they're under the jump…
Last year we talked about what can happen when coat collars get too big for their boots. Er, wearers. Lucy Liu was almost in danger of being swamped by this one (which at first glance, we actually assumed was the very same Martin Margiela coat we talked about last year, but now we’re not sure who it’s by: any ideas?), but it stops short of the tipping point, meaning she gets a Fashion Police Gold Star for it instead, because actually, we think we might just love it.
You see how fine the line is between fashion crime and simply divine? Sometimes it’s hard even for us to know where it lies…
What do you think, readers? Did Lucy Liu cross the line here, or is she a deserving recipient of the Fashion Police Gold Star?
We featured one of Christopher Kane's scalloped dresses as a Wear or Die option back in September, when these dresses were still just being paraded down the catwalk. Some of you said you liked the style, though, and as it's now gone into production (and is being sold at NET-A-PORTER for £3,855), we thought it might be time to re-visit it, and ask ourselves whether it's really a crime of fashion, or whether it's actually quite fantastic, in a crazy/cool kinda way.
Of course, when we say "ask ourselves", what we mean by that is "ask you, our readers". So what do you say? Is this something you think you might buy/wear (assuming the price wasn't quite so extortionate, obviously), or has Mr Kane pushed the envelope a little too far here?
The fact that this garment will be more-or less flesh-coloured on some of us simply compounds the crime here, but just in case that wasn't enough, the lace section on the "bra" is actually see-through, so your own naked flesh will be visible. Oh, and the back features an actual bra-style fastening, to make sure the "LOOK! I AM OUT IN PUBLIC IN MY BRA!" message gets through loud and clear.
Do you want to look like you're naked but for a flimsy lace bra, readers? If you do, this is £28 from Topshop.
Being the retro fashion fiends we are, as soon as we laid eyes on this little gingham jacket, our hearts beat faster and we started imagining it worn with everything from capri pants to jeans, and maybe with a pencil skirt if we wanted to really dress it up.
Then we looked at the price tag,
$2,860. Lordy! Pass us our smelling salts! It’s cute, yes, and it is Dior, so the price shouldn’t really come as too much of a surprise, but even so, readers, even SO.
We’re going to wait for the (hopeful) high street copy to come out. You, meanwhile, can purchase this one at eLuxury, if you so desire.
