Ugly Prom Dress of the Week: the Strawberry Shortcake

Ugly prom dres of the week Ugly Prom Dress of the Week: the Strawberry Shortcake

Judging by some of the comments we get on the various Ugly Prom Dresses in the Fashion Police cells, we know some of you are going to just love this one, and that's great: you can wear it, so we don't have to!

We, meanwhile, think this looks like Strawberry Shortcake just threw up all over it. And we can't blame her, really: the pinkness, the ruffles, the flowers… None of these things on their own would make for an ugly prom dress, of course, but put them altogether, mix for a few minutes, and you end up with a Toilet Doll with a serious penchant for pink. And let us just be blunt: there's no good way to dress like a toilet doll. We're sorry to disappoint you, but there just isn't.

Fashion Police Fraud Squad: Kate Winslet’s Oscar dress already copied by eDressMe

Spl82911 020[2] Fashion Police Fraud Squad: Kate Winslets Oscar dress already copied by eDressMe

Lordy, but doesn't the world of fashion move fast?

Kate Winslet is just fresh off the plane from LA, still clutching her Oscar, and already our Fraud Squad bring news of this copycat dress from eDressMe, which is the doppelganger of the Yves St Laurent gown  she wore on Sunday night. They're doing an Amy Adams inspired one, too!

If this wasn't $375, we'd be tempted to buy it and dress up as Kate Winslet this Halloween…

Lady Gaga goes “naked” in Paris

Spl82885 008[1] Lady Gaga goes naked in Paris

OK, Lady Gaga, that’s it: we’re taking you in.

You’ve had your fun, and so far we’ve chosen to turn a blind eye to it, but this time you’ve gone too far. When we first laid eyes on the evidence above, we thought you were actually naked underneath that jacket, and while yes, we know that’s exactly what you wanted us to think, there’s no excuse for this kind of behaviour, young lady. Flesh coloured leotards do not an “outfit” make.

Lady Gaga, you have the right to remain silent. You also have the right to put on some clothes. Please.

Reader-Nominated Dress of the Day: Moondance prom dress from ModCloth

Moondance prom dress Reader Nominated Dress of the Day: Moondance prom dress from ModCloth

ModCloth is clearly popular with The Fashion Police’s readers: we’ve had several Dress of the Day suggestions from there now, with the latest being this Moondance prom dress, which was nominated by Anu, and is $94.99.

Anu says: “I  think this moondance dress is really pretty. Something like a gothic ballerina would wear, but a bit subtle, and very retro.”

If you agree, you can buy it here.

The Fashionland Ripper Strikes Again: Marios Schwab for Topshop

Marios schwab for topshop The Fashionland Ripper Strikes Again: Marios Schwab for Topshop

This afternoon The Fashion Police are investigating reports of a mysterious "ripper" who has been targetting clothes around the UK… Oh no, wait: our mistake: it's just another Marios Schwab for Topshop collection. Excuse us while we call off the search…

So, these two pieces (that's just one grey dress, by the way, showing the front and back views) are by Marios Schwab, and they're £55 each at Topshop. We'd recommend wearing something underneath the grey one to avoid serious wardrobe malfunction, obviously. Now, personally we prefer not to look like we just got into the kind of Dynasty-style cat fight that results in your clothes getting pulled apart, but that's just us: what do you think of these dresses? There's a definite 80s vibe going on here (you know, just for a change), but is it all too much, or will you be beating a path to Topshop's door for them?

Koolaburra boots: like Uggs, only with fringes

Koolaburra boots Koolaburra boots: like Uggs, only with fringes  Lordy! We knew the whole "add fringes to everything" trend was starting to get out of hand, but we'd no idea it had gone this far. Then again, we guess it was only a matter of time before someone would decide to add fringes to an Ugg-style boot: really, the only surprise here is that it wasn't Ugg Australia themselves.

Instead, Koolaburra have stepped up to the plate, adding fringes to these suede boots. Apparently these have been seen on Vanessa Hudgen and Ashley Tisdale: whether or not that's a recommendation is up to you to decide.

If you do want them, these are £225 and available at Bunny Hug.

Shoe Porn: Alexander McQueen pink “rosette” stilettos

Alexander mcqueen pink sand Shoe Porn: Alexander McQueen pink rosette stilettos

Fashion Police Memo: Remember to check out the Yoox.com shoe section more often. When it contains little gems like these Alexander McQueen sandals, it would be criminal not to…

If Mr McQueen could see his way clear to including something like this in his line for Target, we'd be a very happy Fashion Police indeed. Given that the chances of that are as slim as Victoria Beckham's waistline, though, if you like them, you'll have to pay £284 for them – expensive, but actually less expensive than many McQueen shoes. God bless the good ship Yoox, and all who sail in her…

Denim bumbags sighted in UK, Fashion Police investigating

Denim bum bags Denim bumbags sighted in UK, Fashion Police investigating  We don't want to be unnecessarily alarmist here (oh, OK, we kinda do…) but it would appear the whole "Return of 80s Fashion" crisis is more serious than we initially thought.

How do we know this?

Because ASOS are selling denim bumbags. And not just any old denim bumbags: acid wash ones. With fluorescent yellow trim.

'Nuff said.
