Style on Trial: Luella’s ‘Bertha’ fringed dress

Luella-dress

If you’re a Luella fan, you’re probably already used to seeing this “why use one print or shape when you can use two” style of design from the brand recently. What do you think of it, though? We agree that the floral dress was possibly in need of a makeover, but we’re just not sure if attaching it to a grey vest and then getting a little bit scissor-happy was the way to do it.

There’s a fine line between “edgy” and “just a bit strange”, but has this dress crossed it, we wonder? If you’d go for the former, it’s £795 from NET-A-PORTER

    Horrible. Absolutely. Horrible.

This has crossed the border into crazytown. Terrible garment.

  3. Arielle says:

It looks like it would be hideously unflattering on anyone.

  4. Susan says:

Oh! It’s like the dress dropped a little so you can see the “bra”. Now I get it. It’s ugly.

  5. Theresa says:

Definitely crossed the line into crazy.

  6. Celeste says:

Totally crazy, I might cross the street if I saw this coming towards me.

  7. Dont like it at all. Although, if the gray vest was nixed and the orange thing was also gone, and just the floral print, it might be cute.

If it was without the orange thing and the grey vest and the 2nd floral print, then it could be kinda cute :)

My only and first thought when I saw this dress: No, no, no, no, no. Ok, I don’t like floral print but the shape…

I actually love this! I love the fact its a modern twist with a vintage style fabric. I mean don’t get me wrong where I live I can’t get away with this sort of ensemble! BUT I think if I was a) a celeb b)ultra thin and trendy and c)lived in a city with a great sense of diverse style such as London… I’d be tempted to go for it!

without the horrid tank top thingy and the fake bra-revealing, and without all the fringe, it might just be okay…..maybe. I’ve seen some of her shows, and holy wow, its like someone threw up anime all over the poor models.
