  1. Natalie Portman surprised me while most of these ladies did not. They looked beautiful, but a little predictable too. Tomei’s dress was her best yet, but STILL I think she looked a little washed out.

  2. I vote for QUEEN LATIFAH

That’s how women of her size should present themselves: with pride and dignity, but not overly in your face. I love that dress.
The worst dressed in my opinion is Bridget Fonda. http://www.gala.de/asset/Image/bilderstrecken/2009/oscar/roter-teppich/oscar-roter-teppich44.jpg
She looks like she’s 60 or older, the pattern and the shape of the dress are unflattering and dull, and let’s just not speak about that hairdo…

  3. I thought Kate Winslett looked very poised and classy…. and she actually had her hair done with elegance and elan unlike those who looked like they couldn’t be bothered… yes, J. Biel I’m talking to you!

  4. And further…. what was the deal with SJP and her jacked up breasts? Women of a certain age need to put those away (ditto Goldie Hawn) In fact I thought it was interesting that the young ladies had themselves appropriately covered up – it was the old broads that had them hanging out. Not classy, just cougarish.
Miley Cyrus gown made her look like the little lady you put on top of the toilet paper roll not yet in use. Penelope Cruz seemed to be wearing a vintage wedding gown made of viennese window curtains. Natalie Portman is so beautiful it almost doesn’t matter what she wears – she is so beautifully groomed. Evan Rachel Wood wins most improved.

  5. “MARISA” is the winner..her dress looked beautiful on the red carpet and on stage…photos don’t do justice to this STUNNING dress…

  6. Tie between Rachel Evan Woods and Amy Adams. They looked absolutely stunning. Loved S.J.P.’s dress, too bad it didn’t fit her breasts. (Too bad about the hair as well.)
Not in list, but also gorgeous: Marion Cotillard and Viola Davis.
Worst dressed in my opinion: Beyonce and Tilda Swinton (what is it with her??)

  7. I think someone else has already mentioned this, but, surprised you didn’t feature Tina Fey. Some interesting outfits this year. No Bjork offerings though which is kind of a shame..

  8. Best dressed for me is, hands down, Queen Latifah. She seems to be totally comfortable in her own skin. She’s my new heroine!
Honorable mention for me, must go to Meryl Streep. I thought she looked lovely, too. Very understated and elegant.

  9. I think Jennifer’s dress was overshadowed by the very uncomfortable look she had on her face while presenting… cause there was Brangelina sitting about 2 feet away grinning and smirking. I wonder why she put herself in that position. I would have politely declined and gone to the VF party instead.
