“Sexy” clothes: if you have to say it, you ain’t it

There is a saying The Fashion Police love. The saying goes, "If you have to say it, you ain’t it." The truth of this can be seen, in no particular order, in:

* T-shirts with the word "Babe" or similar on the front of them. Seriously, how often do you actually see these on "babes"?

* People who describe themselves as "wacky" or "kerrazy". No, you’re not, you’re just tedious.

Nowhere is the truth of this saying more evident, however, than in the manufacture and sale of so-called "sexy" clothing. Because if there’s one thing we’ve learned in the course of our Police duties, it’s that if a website describes an item of clothing as "sexy", it almost always isn’t. As evidence of this, we submit exhibit A:

The "sexy romper". It’s just not sexy, is it? And how on earth would you get it off in an, er, hurry?

Of course, everyone has different ideas of what constitue’s "sexy" and that’s just fine. As far as The Fashion Police are concerned, though, this isn’t it.

  1. What’s bothering me though is where did you find it? I guessed at American Apparel but didn’t see it there. I even made the mistake of googling the term – don’t, unless you’re the FP Armed Response Unit…

  2. And where do the expect us to wear it?
Is it beach wear? Something to wear out to the clubs? Or a surprise (nasty surprise) for your man?

  3. Fortunately, the only way to get it off in a hurry is with a pair of scissors, which means you can never, ever subject anyone to it ever again. Shudder.

  4. Hmmm. Some pretty sad comments. I can’t believe how bad and unsexy much of the so called fashion is these days. At least the sexy romper is not trying to be something that it isn’t. The global con job on women where they are taught that covering as much as possible and hiding curves is bad is the real culprit.
