Under Fashion Police Arrest: Claudio Merazzi rabbit fur pink boots

Despite all of the fashion crimes we’ve witnessed over the years, some things still surprise even us.

This would be one of them. The £415 price tag would be another.

If anyone needs us, we’ll be spending the next couple of hours lying down in a darkened room.

Save or Splurge: Drop Pocket Dresses

drop pocket dresses Save or Splurge: Drop Pocket DressesThe drop-pocket dress saw a rise in popularity in 2008, but that popularity doesn’t seem to be on the wane yet, and there are more of these distinctive dresses than ever in the stores right now. Both of the dresses above are from the high street, so both could be described as a “save” option in some respect, but with the Warehouse dress on the right costing twice as much as the New Look version on the left, we’re wondering which you would go for – if either?

Would you save or splurge?

Dress of the Day: Jill Stuart Paris Larissa Dress

jill stuart Dress of the Day: Jill Stuart Paris Larissa DressSpring is coming. At least we really hope it is, because warm weather means we get to wear pretty little floral dresses like this one by Jill Stuart. Or we do if we can afford to pay $728 for them, that is. Which we can’t. D’oh! Another great plan foiled…

Cheap Monday take ripped jeans too far

ripped jeans Cheap Monday take ripped jeans too far

We put the concept of ripped jeans up On Trial last year, and were happy enough to acquit most ripped jeans of the charges against them. Note the word "most", though. These ones, for instance? These ones are going straight to the Fashion Police jail, they will not be passing "Go", and they will most certainly not be collecting $200.

Seriously, Cheap Monday. Seriously. Let us never speak of this again.

Star Style Wars: Kate Hudson V. Anne Hathaway, round 3

spl74232 0071 Star Style Wars: Kate Hudson V. Anne Hathaway, round 3

Oh, thank God, Anne Hathaway finally got the memo. You know, the one about the movie? That she’s promoting? And about how we generally try to throw on something a little bit dressy for these events? Whew!

For the Paris premiere of Bride Wars, Anne and Kate Hudson decided to do a little black-and-white thing (and we must say, Anne is looking very white indeed!), almost as if they knew we’d take these images and put them head to head. Who wins the bride style war this time, though, folks? Over to you…

“Sexy” clothes: if you have to say it, you ain’t it

There is a saying The Fashion Police love. The saying goes, "If you have to say it, you ain’t it." The truth of this can be seen, in no particular order, in:

* T-shirts with the word "Babe" or similar on the front of them. Seriously, how often do you actually see these on "babes"?

* People who describe themselves as "wacky" or "kerrazy". No, you’re not, you’re just tedious.

Nowhere is the truth of this saying more evident, however, than in the manufacture and sale of so-called "sexy" clothing. Because if there’s one thing we’ve learned in the course of our Police duties, it’s that if a website describes an item of clothing as "sexy", it almost always isn’t. As evidence of this, we submit exhibit A:

sexy romper 2 Sexy clothes: if you have to say it, you aint it

The "sexy romper". It’s just not sexy, is it? And how on earth would you get it off in an, er, hurry?

Of course, everyone has different ideas of what constitue’s "sexy" and that’s just fine. As far as The Fashion Police are concerned, though, this isn’t it.

Style on Trial: Yves Saint Laurent cage boots

ysl cage boots Style on Trial: Yves Saint Laurent cage bootsThese boots probably won’t be new to most of you. We saw them on the catwalk a few short months ago, and now here they are, ready to buy for the not-exactly-bargain price of 1,100 euros. What would your feet have to do to make you want to throw them into a cage, though, we wonder? What could possibly be so bad that you’d want to see them behind bars?

Or maybe you love these? Maybe you find them “quirky” and “creative” and … well, insert your word of choice here. Do you? What do you think of these Yves Saint Laurent boots? Fashion crime, or simply divine?

Shy’m in “dubious legwear” fashion crime

spl72577 0031 Shym in dubious legwear fashion crime

Most of the time when The Fashion Police make arrests, we have a good idea of what it is we’re dealing with. You know, it’ll be a shress, or it’ll be particularly bad harem pants, or, in the case of Jodie Marsh, it’ll be the crime of "being almost naked".

In the case of French singer Shy’m, however, we have no idea what this is supposed to be. Are those chaps? Leggings? Some kind of bondage-style stockings? WHAT? We know it’s a crime, but just what kind of crime is it?

Further evidence under the jump, if anyone would case to enlighten us…
