It’s been a big week for America, there’s no “doubt” about it (do you see what we did there?) and there’s a lot to be excited about – not least the fact that we now know it’s possible to buy hats with giant bows on the front of them: thank you, Aretha Franklin!
Has Meryl Streep taken pride in her country a little too far, though, by wearing Catherine Malandrino’s Flag Dress to the Paris photo-call of her movie, Doubt? We’re going to leave it up to you to decide…

I never was a huge fan of this dress, but I think it looks particularly dowdy on Miss Streep. Loving the shoes though. And if ever the time was ripe for an american to be shamelessly patriotic, this is it.
blah
oh, it reminds me of a really cute vintage dress a friend of mine has, but isn’t nearly as nice – hers has all the allies flags on it from ww2.
Poor Meryl channeling Aunt Jemima!
Not liking the dress, but yes, the shoes are great.
no way!
like the shoes though (:
Yip too far. there are enough american flags around already.
who cares?
its meryl streep
she can wear whatever she wants!
Heidi Klum wore the same dress on The Ellen Show a while back.
I think Heidi looked much better in it.
Also, it was appropriate for Heidi to be patriotic as she had just become an Amercian citizen.
Shoes? Uh, what shoes? I was distracted by the dress. Yes, she is taking patriotism too far.
She is Meryl Streep. She is allowed to wear something silly.
She might be allowed to wear whatever she wants. The dress is still ugly.
Eh, I don’t know that I’d choose that dress for a PARIS photocall.
I don’t care about the patriotism as much as the frumpiness of the dress. Too matronly.
