Style on Trial: Chanel’s Russian Doll bag, as seen on Lily Allen

Fashion Police reader Jannet asked us to put this Russian Doll bag by Chanel, seen here carried by Lily Allen this week, up On Trial, and because we’re all heart, of course we agreed.
We must say, we love Lily’s look here, with a white Givenchy jacket over a navy knitted dress, and we think the bag is cute too. What do you think, though, readers? Do you love it or is it too much of a collector’s item for you to get any use out of (especially given the £2,500 price tag)?
If it wasn’t stupid money, I’d love something like that… it’s offbeat without being ugly.
Adorable. Too expensive by far, but adorable nonetheless.
Thought it was cute until you said the price. Yikes! I have several nesting dolls at home…maybe I’ll just stick a strap on one and use it. Not sure how I’ll fit my reading glasses in it, though.
I love her outfit, she looks way cute here! I like the handbag on her, though it wouldn’t be something I’d consider wearing (nor buying *cough*).
I think it’s pretty cute. Certainly better than the Eiffel Tower bag. At least it doesn’t look like it’s made of cardboard.
Lily looks great here! I don’t think I’d buy the bag though, even if I had that kind of cash to spend on little frivolous handbags (which I don’t) because you could totally make your own, and that would be customised for yourself – hmmm off to ebay now, to purchase russian dolls – I could make mini ones for my nieces now couldn’t I?
Love it but could never afford it. Perhaps I might try to make one too.
I like it. And I LOVE the outfit. But I can’t see it being very practical or comfortable to carry round… Not that I am defined by practical – but there is a bit of a difference to wearing 5 inch heels and trying to sqeeze your purse, phone and lipgloss into a Russian Doll!
If I had that kind of money I’d buy it in a heartbeat! It’s adorable. Who cares if you can’t fit anything in it, it’s Chanel!
As the owner of a Feathers McGraw backpack, I have to recuse myself from this trial.
Now I’m off to the thrift store to buy up all the discarded stacking dolls to turn into overpriced purses. Looks like I’ll get my trip to Europe this year after all.
I love Lily’s look here. The purse just gives it a cute little quirk.
It is fabulous, actually. Perfect for an evening out, and it may even be big enough to fit an epipen! Now when they come out with the Kokeshi doll model, I may have to dream about splurging!
her outfit is soo cute! and the bag is amazing. if i had the cash it would be mine
I love it, but there is no way I can scam that sort of crazy spend. *sob* This is 2009’s Rana pouch.
Love it, love it, love it! Would buy it in a second if I could afford it!!
I think it’s lovely! Even though i’m not really a fan of small bags in general…Really, what’s the point? But for me, I consider this an exception!
i love that bag! if i could afford to buy it then i would – im so glad Topshop have come up with a similar copy for a fraction of the price, £22
