I’m cursed with the figure that the models have – ergo, nothing is actually manufactured to fit me. I really need to try things on to make sure the darting is right, etc…jeans are the exception, though, since I can get the size and inseam I need without having to dig through an ill-sorted pile. So jeans online = fantastic. Anything else…not so much.

As my mother always says, if it’s not there when you go back, it wasn’t meant to be. Plus, it saves me from spending money. There have only been a few times that I’ve seen something and HAD TO HAVE IT and paid full price on the spot. Plus, if something sells out in days? That means too many other people are wearing it and I don’t want to look like everyone else. That’s not to say I don’t buy a lot of things on impulse…

I love online shopping! But Oasis have really annoyed me this week. I love the hat they sent me (the floppy one one featured not long ago) but they didn’t send me a ring I’ve been coveting. Now they’ve run out. Despite me ordering it, and them having it in stock they messed up and now I lose out! NOT FAIR!
This, is just a mishap and Oasis are usually fantastic.
I still think the most annoying thing is doing all your shopping, and then being told that an item is out of stock. My Wardrobe, i hope you can feel my wrath from here.

I’m more of a brick-and-mortar shopper, only because I’m not very good at knowing what’s a good fit for my body. I’m short and leaning toward the curvy side, so shirts, skirts and pants that fit me in circumference hardly ever fit me in length, and I do a lot of at-home altering. So buying dresses online is simply out of the question, at least right now.

I buy most of my clothes online because I hate HATE hate trying clothes on in public. I also hate browsing through rack after rack of items that won’t fit me just to find the one that will. I find it depressing and demoralizing. Increasingly, too, brick-and-mortar stores are off-loading their plus divisions to online only which means the mall is becoming increasingly pointless. Fewer and fewer stores carry my size. However, I’ve never really had a problem finding my size online or having it sell out too fast. I suppose it’s because I steer away from trendy things and gravitate towards classic styles. I know how things tend to fit from the stores I frequent so I don’t worry about sizes. And for shoes… by god, is anything better than Zappos? A couple of clicks and they only show my size. If only I could get real stores to do that.

I’ve actually never bought clothes online, for the same reasons that many people have already stated – I just like to try stuff on first. And I totally agree about the shoes – How can you buy comfy shoes online? I might be tempted to buy online if I’d tried on the item in the shop but maybe wanted it in a different colour that they’d run out of in the shop but really I like trying on clothes first.
My biggest annoyance at the moment is that I really need a new pair of glasses, and those you have to try on (or I do anyway, I have a very small face and have to be really careful that my specs don’t take over my entire face…) but the savings you can make online are too good to turn down. What’s a girl to do?

I have noticed lately that online stores have “new” items for only a couple of days before they are gone forever. Makes it hard to keep those credit card balances low.
I like to shop online because I hate dealing with pushy sales people and crowded stores. I do tent to stick to sites that have a store close to me so that I can make my returns there and avoid return shipping costs. If it’s something that I am uncertain about I might get it in two different sizes, planing to return one (or both) of them. I have very long legs and get the tall or x-tall size. I almost always buy jeans/pants online because store rarely have these in stock.

Even though I’ve gotten pretty good at determining what will look good on my body type, I still much prefer shopping for attire at the store where I can try it on. Furthermore, I buy a LOT of basics and they don’t tend to have the really cheap basics online, so it saves me money going to the shop. However, if we’re talking accessories…hats, gloves, jewelry etc…I LOVE shopping online for that sort of thing, if only for the limitless selection!

I’d have to agree with Mousy. Those few times I bought clothes online, they just didn’t seem to fit me quite right in person. And then I end up not wearing them. Luckily I’ve never bought shoes online, because 1) I’d own probably three times as many shoes as I already do now (which is a lot) and 2) I’d have sore feet all the time, because how on earth could you buy comfortable shoes online?!

I think the only thing I’ve ever bought online, clothing-wise, was t-shirts from Threadless. My sizing is weird – I have broad shoulders and a large chest, but a small waist. Also, I have long legs and usually the pants that fit my hips are far too short in the leg, so forget that…
I need to try clothes on to decide if I want them.
