Style on Trial: Maison Martin Margiela varnished heel pumps
You don’t have to be Nancy Drew to figure out that The Fashion Police aren’t exactly big fans of Martin Margiela’s pieces of, er, “wearable art” so it was as much of a surprise to us as it probably is to you regular readers when we found ourselves drawn to these varnished heel pumps of his when we came across them on eLuxury this week.
We think the appeal here is the fact that these look a little bit like the kind of shoes a cartoon villain would wear. Maybe it’s because we kind of are cartoon villains, but we quite like that. What do you think, though, readers? Love, hate or indifference?
The heel is kind of cool, but the beige color showing on the sole of the shoe kind of ruins the effect.
I’m a HUGE fan of these! They remind me of origami. Fierce!
Indifferent
Not bad… not bad at all…
Must be the cartoon villainess thing, but I loooove these shoes. I’m not usually much of a heel person, either.
i love most of what margiela does. big parts of his collections are very wearable, if you keep the rest basic. just don’t go all margiela and you’ll be fine.
