I don’t think it is too bad, but if you can see her knickers when she sits it is too short. My rule is you need to be able to walk up stairs, sit, and cross your legs without worry. Generally 3-4 inches above the knee, but this is only if it is a fitted skirt, a longer skirt should be 1-3 inches above the knee… they flare.

I think there are two important factors to consider: tights and the quality of the legs being showcased, lol. If you have fantastic legs, I think the bending-over-and-not-seeing-underwear rule is enough. But if you don’t have the greatest legs, then a super-short skirt just isn’t flattering and a knee-length would be sexier.

I’m a bit more liberal when it comes to the short skirt, and it’s solely because I’m proud of my legs. I said it. But when I do wear a short skirt, I wear a loose and all-covering top. Too short, for me, is when you sit down and your bare ass is on the chair, which I’d consider unhygienic.

I have a very specific too-short rule. There’s that point where your thighs touch, and skirts should cover that. It will vary from person to person, but that seems to work well. I usually wear knee-length because I’m so tall that short skirts are a whole lot of leg.

It really does depend on the age. (At sixteen, I can wear short-ish skirts whenever I want and not get funny looks. In 20 or maybe 10 years, I probably won’t be able to get away with it.)
Also, you have to have semi-decent legs.
There’s still such a thing as too short though, no matter your age/build.
Danielle Lloyd, being a model, is obviously young, gorgeous and has great legs, but her skirt is waayyy too short.

the girl in front of me on the escalators at Chancery Lane Tube station this morning was wearing pretty much a long fitted t-shirt. She looked about 19, which is the only age you can really get away with that, and was wearing about a 40 denier tight underneath, but it still was just too short- it was just skimming her knickers, for goodness sake! At half eight in the morning!

Personally? I think it all depends on the outfit. Showing too much can just look tacky, but short skirts can also look really nice. It all depends on how you can carry it off.

My way of buying dresses/skirts is to try it on and bend over. If I can see my knickers, then its too short. I prefer a couple of inches above the knees because I’m quite tall and a short short skirt makes me look a bit out of proportion.

I can’t possibly complain about that skirt – I wear obscenely short ones myself. I’m truly dreadful, honestly, but I like my short skirts too much to give them up. I love short shorts, too, and was wearing a pair in town yesterday – yes! Short shorts, in freezing November! – but in my defence, I was also wearing a pair of tights under them.
