Is it ever acceptable to wear hose with opened toed shoes? Thanks
We’ve touched upon the thorny issue of tights-with-sandals before, but because we get asked this a lot (and also because we sometimes like to change our minds without warning), we thought it was time to revisit it again. Our response to Donna’s question is under the jump – feel free to leave yours in the comments box!
OK, so hose-with-open-toed-shoes -
The short answer: It totally depends on the type of hose
The long answer (because the short one wasn’t really all that helpful, we can see that):
If you’d asked us this a few years ago, we’d probably have had no hesitation in saying that no, hose with open-toed shoes is NEVER OK.
Then again, if you’d asked us a few years before THAT, we’d have been all, “Sure, why not?”
Our point: things change. Fashions change. So while we’re going to stick to our guns and say that we don’t think nude, sheer hose looks good with sandals or open toes of any kind, the current trend of wearing opaque tights and peep toes, or sandals, say, looks fantastic, and gets the thumbs up from us.
In short: sheer, nude hose: bad. Opaques: good.
As for sheer, coloured hose, as shown in the image above on the other hand… Well, the jury is out on that one. We wouldn’t wear it ourselves, and we don’t think it’s the best look ever, but some people can make it work, and we tend to think that if you wear it with conviction, you can make ANYTHING work, but we’re going to turn that one over to our Fashion Police jury to see what they think.
So, what’s the verdict of hose with open toed shoes, readers?
