Ankle socks with high heels. It’s one of those looks that we seem to see all the time in fashion editorials but have yet to witness in Real Life – although the fact that Fashion Police HQ is located in The Land That Fashion Forgot may have something to do with this.
What does everyone think of this look? We’ll be the first to put our hands up and admit we wouldn’t touch it with a bargepole, and before you all start with the “that’s because you’re old” comments, let us just say that:
a) yes, we are
b) but we don’t really like this look on younger people, either

I like it. And that’s probably because i AM old, I wore it in the 80s and still like the look. Not at this time of the year of course.
I would wear it if the heels and the socks go together and also depending on what I’d wear with it all. But I wouldn’t wear THESE anckle socks and these heels together, no way.
You know I break out in a rash when I see anything even remotely 80s! If someone made me wear heels and socks I’d probably just have a heart attack and die!
There are many fashion statements that only Carrie Bradshaw can pull off without looking goofy, and that is because she is fictional. I think this look is one of those looks best left to that fashionable fantasy world.
I would not be caught dead in this – but I am of a certain age.
It may work for a younger person. Like that chick in the Saint remake. I liked the look on her.
But I also have very bad memories of the hoochie look from the 80′s: girls teetering about in sky high heels and lace trimmed socks. In fact, I need some mental bleach now, thank you very much.
Looks like all us old biddies are weighing in. This is something I did the last time around. Nowadays, it would make me look like a bag lady. But it would be cute on a young woman.
I dont like boots with ankle socks (it makes my calves look HUGE) but I think ankle boots with knee socks can look really cute. But then, I’m 17
i think it looks good on people like Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, typical tween queens, and that’s about it,
I think it’s one of those things that depends on what you wear it with; so i’m for it I guess. But it really, really depends…
I see that J.Crew (whom I adore) uses this look on a lot of their models. Some ladies can pull this look off. I would look absolutely ridiculous wearing socks with heels. Oh well, to each her own I guess.
To me it look very cute as well as unexpected, I like when girls have coloured feet. I also wear driving shoes with ankle socks and shorts as a boy.
