Identity Parade: red triple strap Mary Janes -which is the designer shoe?

mary janes Identity Parade: red triple strap Mary Janes which is the designer shoe? It’s been a while since we played Identity Parade – the game where you have to pick out the designer “suspect” out of a line-up of items. Well, OK, two items. Easy, no?

Today we’re playing with red, triple strap Mary Janes, two of which can be seen above. One of these shoes is a designer shoe, though, and the other is a high street bargain. The question is, though: can you tell which is which? And which one would you wear, anyway, if either?

Go on then, tell us: which suspect is the designer shoe?

The answer, for those of you playing along….

Suspect B is the designer shoe – they’re by Dsquared2 and are $842 at Zappos Couture

Suspect A, meanwhile is from Matalan, and is £14

  1. B’s the designer, and A is seriously cheap… But judging from the photos, I’d probably rather wear A: sturdier heel and less stripper-ish. No weird line down the front either.

  2. Good call! Yes, A is wearable and B is trampy, but B is clearly the designer shoe, which is sad. The three strap thing is not for me in the first place…I like my shoes simple and unfussy. But that designer shoe…definitely has “porn star” written all over it.

  3. A is probably the cheaper but I’d choose them over the others anyday
Never been a fan of the shiny metal heel/red patent hooker look

  4. I go back and forth on which is the designer. B looks a lot cheaper–the straps look really flimsy, and the black lining looks synthetic. Since A seems to look like genuine leather, I’d like to think that they’re the designer ones–though I know that sometimes in these contests, even the “cheap” shoe is still high-quality and expensive.
In conclusion, I don’t know. But I prefer A, even if I wouldn’t ever wear either.

  5. I seriously hope that A is designer, and B tacky B-grade plastic discount stuff – but I fear it’s just the other way around. I can’t imagine paying anything beyond 2,50 for shoes that dominatrixly hideous.

  6. B
i can tell that B has a nicer finish and the soles look like they are properly glued down. just nicer in general, and the straps have a nice shape whether A doesn’t.

  7. I’m not surprised by the answer, although when you said that Shoe B is from Dsquared2, it made a little more sense. They have an edgier, sexier look as it is. Shoe A, however, although it has all the same elements (high heel, tri-strap, red colour), has a more conservative overall feel. So seeing them side by side made the designer shoe look hooker-ish.
Having said that, I would personally rock the first shoe! It’s kind of got a “hot for teacher” vibe to it. And so affordable!
