Rain. It’s a bit of a pain, isn’t it? (Oh hey, wouldya lookit that, we’re poets and we didn’t know it!) It’s a pain at any time, of course, but it’s particularly annoying if you happen to be out and about wearing a pair of slippery-soled stilettos, which is presumably why SWIMS have come up with this idea for what they call "The City Slipper" and what we call "galoshes for high heels".
Does anyone out there actually wear galoshes? We have to admit that, despite being able to see how practical they could be, we don’t have a single pair to our name, but maybe that’s because we tend to wear heels, and you haven’t been able to buy galoshes for high heels… until now!
The City Slipper is basically a rubber cover that slips on over your shoe, providing some extra traction on the sole and protecting the toes from the elements. The cover is low-cut, so it’ll fit around bows, buckles and other adornments and the sole of each "slippers" has a map of either New York, Paris or Tokyo engraved into it, which we guess will come in handy if you happen to find yourself caught in the rain in any of those countries, although you will have to remove your shoe to be able to read it.
Cute idea, but what we want to know, of course, is would you wear it? If so, check out the SWIMS website, where they’ll be available soon.

Hmm…I’d have to try them out. Cute idea, and they look stylish on the shoe. They would get pretty dirty – I wonder if they are washable?
Hm, I don’t know. I’ve never had a problem with slipperiness, but sometimes an unexpected shower really can ruin your shoes. So, I guess they would be convenient to carry around in your bag just in case.
When it comes to rain, I’m a wellies or nice boots gal. Too many times a wet pant cuff has ruined my day by slowly soaking my legs up to the knees in cold, clammy puddle water.
I’d be afraid the shoes would slip out of the galoshes and I’d still fall flat on my face (only look even sillier having pinged a strange rubber thing across the pavement). Have they been stress tested?
they’re pretty cute. slightly bizarre, but vaguely useful. I like them.
I live in Seattle and my cute heels almost never see the light of day in winter. Though the shoes I most worry about getting wet are those that are delicate like satin or suede, and the heel wouldn’t be protected, so I probably wouldn’t purchase these. I’ll stick to my jelly flats and a big purse to carry my heels.

I went to the SWIMS website, but it was one of those sites SO over engineered that it was unusable. I really couldn’t navigate to figure out what they were selling. This is what happens when you let sales/marketing people design websites.
Anyway, I love the concept. I wish I could find some type of knee high rubber covers for stiletto pumps (or over boots). They might have something like that on their site, but I couldn’t figure out how to find it.
