OK, have we travelled back in time to 2005 or something?
The smock dress, as longtime readers will know, is one of The Fashion Police’s oldest enemies. A couple of years ago, this style was all you could buy. The stores were just full of dresses so shapeless they made even the skinniest of us look six months pregnant, and we’re damned if we want to go through that again, which is why when we spotted our nemesis for sale at Littlewoods Direct, we had to instantly put out an APB and hope to God this turns out to be an isolated incident.
What are your thoughts on smock dresses, readers? Do you agree that this is a dangerous criminal, who must be apprehended at all costs, or would you be happy to see these make a comeback?

Smock dresses/tops are so very bad and wrong! They just can’t return- I can’t face shops full of them again!
These look awful on me. I’m short, so I just look like a little walking box in one.
I love, love, love this blog, but have never commented before…I was surprised, though, to hear the shock over the smock dress. I live in the US (not that we are the forefront of the fashion industry or anything, haha) but the smock dress had been popular and in stores here since approx the beginning of this year. There were billowly, light versions in the summer time, and there are heavier, knitted versions now. I actually really like wearing the trend myself, and find it quite comfy and cute, but I do understand how many may deem it un-figure-flattering. Anyhow, this trend has definitely screamed it’s presence across the US!
