Celebrity Style on Trial: Paz Vega at Spike TV’s Scream 2008 Awards

Dollface loved Paz Vega’s makeup and hair when she wrote about her yesterday, but The Fashion Police aren’t quite so convinced by the dress the Spanish actress wore to Spike TV’s Scream 2008 Awards. We can kinda see where she was going with this: we think she was probably aiming for an old-school glamour, Dita von Teese-esque look, but we don’t think Dita would wear something quite so 80s, so this falls a little bit short of the mark, ending up more “Retro Barbie” instead.

Or does it?

What do you think, readers? Should we convict or acquit Paz Vega of crimes against fashion?

  1. hmmm… i really don’t know… I think I like it but I’m not a fan of pink and shiny material… maybe that’s why I’m so unsure…

  2. I think it looks great! If her hair was different though, she’d look terrible. The two together really work. I’m loving the singular puff sleeve and the bow at the waist – I’m not totally sold on the fabric though.

  3. Bleargh. She could maybe have got away with the shiny OR the shape OR the colour, but even just two together would have immediately rendered it fashion crime.
Actually, I’m sure the shiny and the shape are very pleasant even on their own… maybe just the colour then!

  4. I don’t like it, and I’m surprised so many do. The cut is too loose on the skirt, the fabric…i actually HAD a number of barbie dresses in that fabric, most notably a figure skating leotard…If she had worn that same dress in an emerald green with leopard print louboutins…it would have been a knock-out. That pink is just a terrible color on her skin tone.
