5. Accessories that don’t match
I admit I have been guilty of this crime myself for quite some time, and it’s not always easy to find hats, scarves and gloves as a set.
But on the other hand why don’t people just stick to the same basic colour then?
No, it has to be one colour/pattern with the hat, a completely different one with the scarf, … and EACH OF THEM clashes with their coat!
Yes, I know it’s cold. Yes, I’m freezing, too, BUT I’M NOT BLIND!

5. Multiple Layers
While layers are good for added warmth and can enhance an outfit, make sure they match!!! Many girls arrive at school wearing a long sleeved shirt, tank/cami on top, a jacket, pants, shoes, socks, and then accessories. If you feel it is necessary to wear this many clothing items make sure they go together. If you chose to go for the “eclectic” look or you simply don’t notice the variety of colors and patterns you are mixing, then you are allowing yourself to be a subject of mockery.

I’ve seen people wear socks and sandles. Even my eight year old son thinks that is a crime of fashion!

Jeans or pants with holes worn over long underwear or flannels. I see this all the time when it is snowy outside. Get new pants or patch them! I don’t want to see their long underwear, and perhaps if their pants weren’t full of holes they wouldn’t need the second layer.

#5 – Big, puffy coats in baby blue or baby pink or some other horrendous color that make you look like the Michelin Man after he fell into a vat of dye. A big no-no in my book. Get a close-fitting, TAILORED jacket, and for heavens sakes, stick to black, white, cream, navy, or red.

#5 Plastic rain bonnets (the little pleated ones that have plastic chin-strap ties). They ARE practical, in that they start out flat and compact, and when worn they put a nice waterproof cover over your hair, but they look like pleated baggies, and the little plastic strips that function as chin straps are hard to tie and tear easily. Perhaps these are no longer as in fashion as they once were, but around here Women of a Certain Age still wear them all the time on cold, wet days.
