Paris Fashion Week, Spring/Summer 09. We’re scared…

Annevalriehash

Paris Fashion Week is under way, folks, and if this is the shape of things to come, well, next summer is going to be interesting to say the least…

Consider the outfit above, for instance, from the Anne Valérie Hash show. We’re probably going to be having nightmares about this for weeks now. A sheer top, a bottom that will have all eyes on your crotch, a strange, drapey bit to the side, and let’s not even think about what this is going to look like from the back. No, seriously, let’s not even think about it. Moving along…

Anne Valérie Hash also brought us the ultimate in Clothes That Are Stuck Together. It hurts our heads trying to imagine how you’d get in and out of this, but we guess it could make a good Halloween party game…

Gareth Pugh’s show was all like this. Great news for Elizabethan Space Cowgirls, of course, maybe not so great for wearing to the pub…

Rick_owens
Rick Owens went with a "Creepy Nun" kinda theme. We can sort of see where he was going with these cut-out bodices, which will make your Creepy Nun waist look impossibly small (or just give your love-handles a place to escape to, depending how you look at it), but what we really want to know is why all the models had bin-bags on their feet? It was like all the Creepy Nuns had mated with shire horses, and this was the result. Gareth Pugh’s mind = a weird and wonderful place to be, for sure.

I really love the creativity that goes into these… but then I step back, take another look at these and realise that THEY’RE CLOTHES.
And then I feel sorry for the models. 😛 No wonder they look so stern. They probably have to chew the insides of their lips to stop themselves laughing.

You know, I actually kind of like the Gareth Pugh one. It’s kind of neat…in an Elizabethan Space-Cowgirl kind of way.

Dear God, what were they thinking?
I’ve always found nuns a bit scary anyway though.
Is the Anne Valérie Hash one (Can it be called an outfit? Doesn’t that imply wearability?) made of string?

I actually liked them, if they were costumes in a sci-fi film. Other than that, I probably wouldn’t wear any of them except for Halloween. Maybe.

You know, on the Gareth Pugh outfit – if you take away the crazy and just keep the dress (as a NORMAL dress) and the leggings, it’s actually extremely cute. I also like the top on the Anne Valerie Hash outfit.

Have to admit, I like them (apart from the first one, which just reminds me of how you do need to check regularly that you’re correctly positioned in your bra).
The last one looks more like “Post-Apocalyptic Nun” to me – you can imagine her caring for smudgy-faced orphans belonging to the caravan that roams the countryside in search of uncontaminated water…

The most expensicve dress you’ll ever get arrested for indecent exposure in.

    Oh, there’s more than one….
    2: The TOP is okey….
    3: It’s a Card Guard from Wonderland!
    4) Nuns gone wild!

I actually really like the second and third outfit.
The first is just ALL WRONG and the paper-bag nun depresses me.
