Style on Trial: mini bowler hat by Chapeau Claudette

This winter really is shaping up to be the season of the hat. While we know hats are always around in some form another, this year there seems to be much greater choice available in the world of headgear, with styles ranging from the sublime to the completely and utterly ridiculous.
Which category does this mini bowler hat by Chapeau Claudette fall into, we wonder? On the plus side, it has that cuteness about it that all very small items seem to have (puppies, kittens, babies, etc, etc), but on the minus side we suspect that dinky cuteness may only apply to this when it's not actually being worn, at which point it just runs the risk of making the wearer look like they have a very big head indeed. Or like they're about to star in their very own cartoon.
Which side are you on with this? Cute or "cartoon"?

People say there's a suitable hat for everyone, but in my case this is Not True. However, I CAN kinda pull off fascinators, so I'm going with cute!

If you got the guts to wear it, more power to you! I think most people would laugh at you, but I kinda love it! Curse the common folk and their narrow-minded ways.

It's not flattering or cute at all. I don't like it!

Although I couldn't pull it off, I kind of like it and I think many girls could do it with the right outfit and sense of humor (maybe a garden party in a sweet, poofy dress?)

I couldn't personally pull it off but power to the people who can, it looks super cute on the model.

I saw this on ASOS and thought they were really nice at first; wearing it is a different matter though. Unless you got the rest of the outfit right it looks like you're going to go on stage.

Yes, it is cute on the right person, and looks great on the model. On me? I am finding that very hard to imagine, but then again, hats and me don't really go together at the best of times.

Its pretty much the same as the mini top hats I've seen in the Gothic Lolita trend, which I love, so I say its cute!

It's very Carrie from SATC. But I found many of her fashion choices questionable, and this would be no different.

Laurel & Hardy cartoon.

I think it's cute on the model, but realistically, how many people could actually wear it without getting laughed at?

Horrendous! Don't let Agyness Deyn see it or we're doomed!

I don't think I'd wear it - it looks like it would be too small for my dog!

maybe in a different style of hat.
the model reminds me of keira knightley for some reason.

I actually see the point, but its too small (Nobody can pull it off, without me thinkin "how the hell does it stick to her head?")
I do see the vision behind it.. But it just wont work.. and more people are going to buy it, than wear it.
Because very few people will wear it in public (I think) ..Because when putting it on at home in front of the mirror, u just have that weird gut feeling that this isnt going to work..

i also find this fashion choice questionable.
i can't tell if it's more chic or circus clown, really.

The fascinator is an aspect of Gothic fashion so given the spill overs from that realm in recent months it is unsurprising to find it turning up in the mainstream too. However, it does not work at all if divorced from the other elements of Victorian garb that comes with true Gothic style. This will only work if you are in a corset and have a full skirt, preferably in brocaded black or in a russet/maroon/plum.
