Style on Trial: Alexander McQueen knit military dress

alexander mcqueendress 2 Style on Trial: Alexander McQueen knit military dressThe Fashion Police love military style fashion, which is particularly great during the winter months on coats, boots and knit dresses.

We don’t love it quite so much on this knit dress, by Alexander McQueen, however, because when we look at this dress – especially from a distance – we don’t so much see “military style” as “scary skeleton, with its ribs on show”.

Is that just us?

We can totally see where McQueen was going with this, of course, and we really want to like it, but somehow that skeleton association is proving hard to shake. What do you think? Do you love the very bones of this dress, or does it make you see bones when you look at it?

  1. Geeze, I love military influence and yes I did used to think my high school marching band uniform was sexy (on the guys, at least) but this is not military influence, this is SKELETON influence. It’s those long lines over the legs… There’s a reason stripes go on the SIDES of uniform pants.

  2. THANK YOU! I knew I could count on The Fashion Police to see that this is as hideous as I thought. I totally saw skeletons, and I still am now. All. Wrong.
Oh, and Chica, I think this is available as a blazer too.
