Marks & Spencer make another leather dress: what do you think of it?

Leather_dress

Remember last year, when the British press made a tremendous fuss over the fact that Victoria Beckham had apparently purchased a black leather dress from Marks & Spencer? Well, since then, M&S have continued to churn out leather dresses: it’s not known whether or not Mrs Beckham has purchased the one shown above, but it’s pictured in September’s Cosmo, worn by a Posh-lookalike who’s even wearing Vic’s trademark oversized sunglasses, which certainly made us do a double-take…

Now, the dress in Cosmo is much more fitted than the one shown above (presumably because it’s been pinned tightly at the back), and as soon as we laid eyes on it, we rushed off to the Marks and Spencer website, not realising the dress was made from leather, determined to make it ours.

Well, on the Marks website, the dress doesn’t look nearly as good as it does in the Cosmo shoot, and we don’t think we’d get a lot of use out of a leather dress anyway (if it had been fabric, as we’d first assumed, that would be a different story…), so we think we’ll give it a miss. What do you think of it? Worth paying £149 for?

It’s cute, I just wish it weren’t leather. I’d prefer it in a smart tweed.

I think it is shapeless and the color would wash anyone out who is of a lighter color than the model. I also think it looks incredibly uncomfortable. Leather? In a dress? Why?

Leather clothes are almost always baggy and shapeless, in a stiff, tent-fabric sort of way. I’ve owned leather skirts and dresses in the past and wouldn’t have another one. They don’t fold nicely upon sitting down and they tend to make rude noises.

I’m with you: I’d be running out and buying it if it weren’t leather.

A dress made of leather? What a sick idea…! But I agree, if it was fabric it’d be a nice dress.

I actually saw this dress in the store yesterday and it is hideous! Two questions come to mind – how did they think anyone would actually want one of these and why?
On a tangent, I was in there looking for a dress for my brother’s wedding next weekend and a majority of their A/W dresses are horrid!
