Eyeball Jewellery: not fashionable

eyeball jewellery Eyeball Jewellery: not fashionable

Oh God. Oh no. Oh, say it ain’t so, someone!

If you’d told us a few weeks ago there was something out there that would make us feel even more squeamish than the contact lens jewellery we featured back in July, we’d probably have told you to quit the crazy talk.

But there is something worse. It’s eyeball jewellery – yes, that’s jewellery that’s implanted into your actual eyeball, folks – and if you’re squeamish at all, take a friendly piece of advice and don’t, for the love of God, go Googling this subject. Seriously.

Now, eyeball tattooing isn’t a new idea. It’s actually been around for a lot longer than you’d imagine, and used to be done to correct the appearance of eye defects. This is slightly different, though. This involves the insertion of small pieces of jewellery into the the mucous membrane that lines the outer surface of the eyeball. For the sake of fashion.

The Fashion Police say this is very probably a bad idea. Who’s with us?

  1. I imagine there’s some twisted emo freaks who would think this is “awesome” but that seems like an awful lot of trouble to go through for something that most folks probably won’t even notice.

  2. Argh, a collective gasp from colleagues when I showed them this – looks more painful than the contact lens jewellery you showed earlier.

  3. this is NOT cool. If I was talking to someone and I seen this is their eye, i would seriously have to leave the convo. lol

  4. Ew, you can actually see where the eye is irritated around the “jewelery”! wouldn’t this be exactly the same as having a large piece of glitter stuck in your eye? We all know how painful THAT is.

  5. Oh my god, I almost threw up when I opened this page. I cannot STAND anything that has to do with eyeballs. I honestly could not be friends with someone who insisted on wearing on, for the simple fact that I would not be able to look them in the eye without heaving

  6. ewwwww!!!!! what happens if the jewelry implant gets infected or itchy? if you rub it you could accidentally drive the thing further into your eyeball. that is disgusting!

  7. They should invent some jewelry you could staple right to your head. Like a nice nailed-to-the-skull diadem. It’s practical: you can safly play any sport, not worring that it would fall off.

  8. …Wow. I guess if you want to, go for it. I would be too freaked out to try and get this done. And I can just imagine something going wrong and it migrating under that membrane somehow and doing damage.

  9. Bleh. I’m gonna be sick. Pollen, conjunctivitus, glaring computer screens…don’t our eyes go thru enough torture as it is without doing it on purpose?

  10. i actuallly saw this on an episode of NCIS, where it was a computer chip implanted in an assassin’s eye. It was in the episode “Under Covers”. It was at the end of i think season 3. good episode…
